Who should be the #2 option?

Now before anyone starts shooting me down for bashing Cat for the offensively absent game tonight, let me say that that's not what this thread is about.

After tonight's game, we shouldn't be doubting Yao's offensive contributions. Heck, without him, we might have been blown out early into the game. So here lies the problem. There aren't many teams with a frontcourt that could matchup to Yao. Even if with decent centres, I do believe that Yao has the ability and the smarts to work around them. Rudy has to exploit this advantage EVERY chance he gets. If Yao has the hot hand, just feed him the ball.

Francis owns and runs the team, no doubt about that. Until recently, I wouldn't doubt Cat's status as the #2 option. However, that's probably because we didn't have another established scorer available. KT hasn't shown the consistency, and EG seems relent to be parked outside proping up 17 footers instead of slashing to the hoop like everyone wishes he would.

With the emergance of Yao's offensive game, I'm wondering if anyone on the team, esp Cat, might feel particualrly threatened. I'm wondering why Yao was given so little of the ball in the 4th quarter, although that might be because of his fatigue. Was Francis trying to force the game and try to win it on his own instead of letting this rookie grab the headlines? Personally I don't think so, but it's kinda hard to say isn't it? For years the focus had been on yourself and now some rook comes in and is turning out to have the potential to be a monster( in the good way).

That said, this opens up many possible scenarios.. trades? adjusting of the starting lineup etc. Not that I don't like Cat, I love his game, but perhaps it's time for him to shift to a 6th man role, to provide the instant spark off the bench, and move Hawk into the lineup for a defensive stopper. (Well, Cat's D isn't that shabby too)

Despite Yao's impressive show, I'm still sticking to Cato getting the starting job. He still has the experience and the physical body over Yao, and it's good strategy for Cato to be wearing down the other guy so that Yao and come in and beat em up.
