When Yao comes back next year, who's going to shoot our technical free throws? Yao has typically been the one who gets to shoot them, and of course all of the announcers get a big kick out of pointing out that a 7'6'' guy is shooting a team's tech's.

With the addition of Kevin Martin, it seems we may have some competition for who gets the privelege of free points. So who gets the nod?

A team with a 90% + free throw shooter also on the roster.

But yea, I still say Yao since he has seniority.

You know what? I've had this exact question at the back of my head for awhile now with the acquisition of Martin. I guess it comes down to who has the higher percentage during clutch situations... I'd say Yao, but Martin is just as capable...

    I say...

Yao and Martin conduct a game of "paper, rock, scissors" to determine who shoots.

    :)

Dirk does, but he also is a PF/C that takes 3's on a regular basis.

Martin probably but it brings up something awesome to consider, imagine how deadly the Rox are going to be when within the first 3 or 4 minutes the opposing team gets in the penalty and you have 2 guys who can shoot over 85% from the line and another who is close to 80% in Brooks.

Martin simply because 90%+ is better than 80%+.

I love Yao and he is an excellent free throw shooter. However, Martin is even better.

Ahem what is this 'paper, rock, scissors' you speak of? The only game I've heard of is Broshambo

A bit unrelated, but have you guys noticed that the Rockets almost never draw defensive 3 second violations anymore? That happened regularly with Yao on the floor, and it was free points.

Whomever has the highest percentage is going to shoot the freebies. That's the way it always works. I can remember when Yao started shooting them because his percentage surpassed somebody (Rafer?). I suspect martin will probably shoot them, but it's not like it is going to make much difference.

I think what we are all going to dread is watching the refs swallow their whistles in the 2nd half of our games because we have run up the foul count on our opponents and the officials think they have to even out the foul count.

Did I say I abhor NBA officiating?
