With Rice, Morris, Walt playing SF and the hybrid SF's of KT, torres and especially Griffin being SF possibilities, who says we need to consider Lewis, Odom, etc and other guys we're afraid of giving big contracts to? The Rockets have been scouting a PF and a C so far and imo is exactly more what they need... a tougher presence on D and inside strength. It doesn't even need to be a starter for sure... but at least a strong backup for whatever PF we start and Cato. what do people think about us picking up a big guy instead? ... doesn't Rasheed Wallace have an option for next year? (biasm... he's one of my favorite players)
We BETTER not pick up any more small forwards unless we trade at least one of what we've got. The logjam at the 3 is ridiculous. Way too much mediocrity, and not enough ball to go around. I don't think Rudy's going to want to part with Rice or Walt, though. He has his strange loyalties to veterans, and the team isn't going to want to admit it's mistake with Rice, (plus who would take him willingly?) and aparently Walt is everyone's big brother on the team. Morris is part of the youth, so we'd like to hold on to him. So yeah. The SF position isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I'm pretty happy about that.
You forgot Langhi and Cat (Rocks' small ball 3). Rice and TMo appear to have a lock on the Rocks' 3 future. Langhi will not be back next year, since he is po-ed about his pt and his contract is up. Walt's contract is also up, but I half way expect the Rocks to re-sign him to the league minimum for a year. Signing Walt is a pure chemistry move since he is everybody's best friend on the team. If signed, he will only go off of the IR when/if Rice goes on. Griffin is not a 3. He lacks some of the 3 skills, in particular defense and dribbling. I do see where EG and KT can play together, where EG is a 3 on O (albeit limited to a jump shooting 3) and a 4 on D. On a similar note, the Rocks also appear to be crowded at the 4. There will not enough minutes at the 4 to keep MoTay, KT, and EG happy. I will not be surprised that if MoTay is back 100% next year the Rocks will look to move KT. Keeping KT and moving MoTay would be a tougher trade to sell due to MoTay missing all of this year.
