What a bonehead http://espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0428/1545990.html Eustachy attended Missouri party following loss ESPN.com news services Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy told the school's president and athletic director he used "poor judgment" when he attended an after-hours party near the University of Missouri following a loss to the Tigers this season. Photos of Eustachy at the late-January party, which were obtained by the Des Moines Register from a student at the party, were published Monday. The 12 photographs show Eustachy with a beer in his hand, and in several photos, embracing and kissing women on the cheek or being kissed on the cheek. Iowa State athletic director Bruce Van De Velde said Eustachy, 47, came to him and university president Gregory Geoffroy earlier this month after learning that a student at the Jan. 23 party provided photographs to the newspaper. According to the newspaper's report, Eustachy went to the party at a student apartment with Missouri player Josh Kroenke hours after the Cyclones lost 64-59 to the Tigers in Columbia. Eustachy issued a statement to the Register Thursday in which he confirmed meeting with Geoffroy and Van De Velde. "In the past, I have made some poor decisions that I regret," Eustachy, who is married and has two children, said in his statement. "I talked with President Geoffroy and Bruce Van De Velde last week about a variety of issues. I love Iowa State University and all the people who support our team. It's important to represent ISU in a manner that sheds a positive light on the university and the Cyclone men's basketball team." Van De Velde declined to say whether disciplinary action has been taken or was pending against Eustachy. He also would not say whether the coach's actions could lead to his dismissal. "I wouldn't discuss that at this point. No comment," Van De Velde told the Register. "Larry understands that he has made a poor decision and not used good judgment. He understands, and we have made it clear to him, the importance of his public image and the obligations he has for the institution. And he has expressed remorse . . . to our university administration and to me." It reportedly was not Eustachy's first campus party after a road game, according to students in another Big 12 Conference town. In January 2002, the coach was at an early-morning fraternity party in Manhattan, Kan., hours after his team lost a game to Kansas State, students told the Register. On that occasion, a fraternity member said he wound up in an argument with Eustachy because he found the coach's arm around his 19-year-old sister. The woman told the newspaper that Eustachy walked into the house and complimented her on her appearance, saying that she should be attending the University of Kansas, where the girls are "much hotter."
He was just networking. Josh Kroenke's middle name isn't Walton because his parents were fans of the television show.
A man of legal age drinking an alcoholic beverage?! Kissing a girl on the cheek? Hugging?! Arms around someone?! EGAD! Somebody arrest this man now!
He's the freakin head coach of a major division I basketball program. His behavior is appalling to stay the least for his position. He's out partying like a college student. Nevermind he's married and has children (but that's his business).
The man is 47 years old with a wife and kids...and he's hanging out at some college apartment party. Not even the famous Wooderson would stoop to this level. Also, apparently this is also newsworthy of ISU. http://www.theomahachannel.com/news/2015996/detail.html Former ISU Coach Randall Brown Faces p*rnography Charges Brown Resigned Monday Afternoon POSTED: 3:34 p.m. CST March 3, 2003 UPDATED: 6:56 p.m. CST March 3, 2003 AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University assistant basketball coach Randall Brown is facing federal charges Monday of child p*rnography. Video Randall Brown Faces Federal p*rn Charges Iowa State Students React To Charges Brown, 45, was charged Monday afternoon and has been under investigation for weeks. He faces charges of possessing sexually explicit material involving minors and obstruction of justice charges. U.S. postal inspectors and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the ISU Department of Public Safety. They said since July of last year there was a man on-line soliciting what he thought was a 15-year-old girl. The man was identified as assistant basketball coach Randy Brown. According to the documents, Brown admitted he chatted on-line with what he thought were 15-year-old girls. The chats were reportedly graphic. Documents also show Brown admitted to downloading child p*rn and sending it over the Internet. The federal criminal complaint states that the obstruction of justice charge is because Brown allegedly destroyed approximately 30 floppy diskettes that contained images of a sexual nature involving minors. The complaint said Brown destroyed the diskettes despite having been warned by federal postal inspectors not to do so. Federal inspectors seized a computer at Brown's basketball office in Hilton Coliseum and two computers at his home. An analysis of those computers indicates child p*rnography was found on all of them. A search warrant in Brown's name was sealed Feb. 3 by a Story County District Court judge. Brown is not in custody at this time. He had been on a leave of absence from the basketball program at Iowa State since late January. If convicted of child p*rnography and obstruction, Brown could face up to 15 years in prison. "Randy Brown has resigned from his position as assistant men's basketball coach, effective immediately. Iowa State University has accepted his resignation," Head Basketball Coach Larry Eustachy said. Brown has been an assistant coach with the Cyclones for four years. University officials said head basketball coach Larry Eustachy and basketball players will not be commenting on the charges. Look for much more on this developing story on NewsChannel 8.
When I was at Sam Houston, our professors wouldn't be caught dead at a college student party....that's because the professors were the ones THROWING the parties. Most of them were wilder than the students parties too...especailly the music profs.
But he is married, so it's probably real. Eustachy could be pretty cool, and the dude who took the pictures (his apartment was the where the party was) could be a complete ass... but I'd still understand the older married million dollar high profile employees of a major university have different rules of conduct that they do adhere to.... but besides that, he's just a man drinking, partying, and flirty with college chicks because he can. I don't want to read any BS about guys in his position who know for sure that they would NEVER do anything like that.
I don't doubt that he's married, I just get the feeling somebody made that ring stick out more than it did in the original photo.
I think even Bob Knight takes off his sweatervest after the game. I can't believe Eustachy is such a tool that he wears that mock turtleneck to a kegger.
