that block on Wells was the only highlight to last nights debaucle. That shows me that Yao is starting to learn how to get up and dance
He can jump but he is just not a fast jumper like Olajuwan or other great blockers. He is slow to get up there thats why people throw so many tear drop layups on him and stuff. His quickness to get up in the air is not as fast as some, that's all it is. If he gets better timing then he will get a lot more blocks.
You're kidding about the vertical leap bit, right? He had to have been on his way up still. My puny vertical leap is still about 25 inches. At least it hasn't decreased in ten years.
You all forget Yao jumps basically from rest while the others had to run up a momentum before elevating. Unlike Yao, those guys will find it hard to dunk if they grab the ball right underneath the basket. That's the difference of a 7'6".
Aside from the jumping, did anyone else note the defintion that Yao shows when straining to make the block? Yao is starting to come around with his weight program.
True. Just gives me more hope and makes me salivate for what is to come. I never thought that such well defined changes would come this quickly. How I hope and believe his "I-am-the-best-danmit" and "merciless-killer" mentality and toughnessness come around soon too. It is really all about his self confidence and stamina. Yao will be unstopable now (not later) if he believes he is.
How can you tell how high some is jumping from a picture???? I mean they could be on their way up (or down)... Does that mean if they are one inch of the ground when the picture is taken they have a one-inch vert? What a ridiculous thread
Not a ridiculour thread. The pictures show that Yao could jump AT LEAST as high as shown. And that is not bad at all.
When Yao gets better timing, he can be a better shot blocker than Timmy...neither has the explosiveness, difference is the timing.
