I was just on facebook, updating my status to wish Jesus a happy birthday, and realized everyone was talking about how they wish people merry Christmas and ****.What bothers me is no one is thankful for the whole reason for this day, it's all about being merry and presents, I kmow that's a great part of Christmas, there might even be something magical about it, but what about celebrating the birth of Christ?

    Happy birthday Jesus!

Instead of worrying about what everyone else does or doesn't celebrate, why don't you focus on you and your family on this important day for you?

Do you hate people that don't share the same beliefs of you?

I'm Christian, and I celebrate and cherish Christmas for the time I get to spend with my family. Not Jesus's birthday. In fact, we as Christian suppose to praise Jesus daily, so I'm sure he don't give a damn. That's just my opinion.

Merry Christmas to all! (For whatever reasons they celebrate)

The reason you and your family are alive is because of Jesus's birth and death... Yet on Christmas day you dont take in consideration his birth, its not what you celebrate?

Christmas is a secular holiday for the majority of people. We're not all Christians. I'm an atheist and I still celebrate and say 'Merry Christmas'.

Hey, don't forget Advent comes every year as well.

I think Christmas is generally acknowledged as the day we celebrate the birth of Christ. When someone wishes me "Merry Christmas" it includes the Christ child as well as family and gifts and music and the joy that all those things bring. Christmas is indeed a joyful time and a time you should be more easily able to forgive people's small transgressions and assume the best of your fellow man.

    Merry Christmas!

People were celebrating the winter solstice for millennia before the time of Jesus' birth.

    http://www.history.com/topics/christmas

"Christmas" as birth of Jesus of Nazareth wasn't widely celebrated until centuries after his death. No one knows when his actual day of birth was, so it was just as likely after-the-fact glommed onto the prevailing winter celebrations of the time.

It's like people celebrating Black Friday two thousand years from now as a pansexual-capitalistic-religious holiday, and no one realizing it was originally just the day after Thanksgiving.

    Merry Christmas, Bedford Falls.

I understand what your saying. But not everyone is Christian. Why criticize those that do not share the same faith? Ya'll can criticize me since I am a Christian who doesn't have a strong faith or as religious as others, but to criticize non-Christians for trying to have a joyous time isn't right in my opinion.

I wish every day was christmas. I'm watching scrooged for the second time in a row eating cheesecake and some abuelita's hot chocolate. Love baby jesus too, went to the mass last night, family tradition.

First... it was oroginally based on a pagan holiday.... second, they do not even think that Jesus was born in December, the date came from.... A PAGAN HOLIDAY.

Christmas is no longer mostly about Jesus Christ, as referenced by santa claus, christmas trees, reindeer, etc...

If you want to view it a Christian holiday, more power to you.... but it is a secular holiday at this point...

Please tell me this is a joke! It is not Jesus' birthday today. And I promise you one thing, that man is not the reason why I am alive today

I'm sorry, but the date, Dec 25th, may be based more on convenience than anything else (He was technically born in the Summer months I think), but this is still very much the day we celebrate Jesus' birth. We as in Christians. That should NEVER be forgotten. And the whole tradition of Santa and gift giving, stemmed from St. Nicholas. That the mass media and retailers have morphed the holiday into something else shouldn't erase the true spirit and meaning of this day.

What other people choose to do is their business, but don't crap on something that's truly meaningful to others. Personally, I've always liked going to mass on Christmas Eve, followed by family time and presents the next day. I think it really helps to put myself into the right frame of mind to celebrate this day.

THIS, Solstice. Christianity covered up the Pagan holiday (IMO) just like moving the Sabbath day to Sunday.... for convenience maybe? (idk why)

Also the way this converse is being carried out I think it needs to be moved to DD

I do not identify Jesus as savior but that won't stop me from celebrating his message of love, tolerance, and acceptance of all people.

Is Peace on Earth such a bad message to spread?

that is just a silly statement and makes little sense historically.

Easter is the true religious holiday for Christians to celebrate...

let people have their cherished Holiday moments...
