Really? He had a turnover and he tried to bait a foul that wasn’t called?

My mistake - those are egregious sins that ought never happen and certainly never do with any superstar players.

I guess Bobby was right and he’s a bust. My bad.

It's very interesting how many super low post count accounts that don't seem remotely have come out of the woodwork for this thread. Just how many alt accounts do all these Jaters need? lmao

Thanks for the links, but I'm no stranger to our player's BBRef pages. I also have watched every minute of Rockets basketball this season, but I know better than to call someone a completely different player after 4 games no matter how good they look on either side of the ball.

Like I said, it's just too early to declare that he's changed significantly. And that goes for any player, not just Jalen.

The reality on the defensive side is that Jalen sucked last year and has showed up this year playing way, way better. I'd love to know what caused it.

Some have suggested conditioning. Maybe that's it. Or is it getting the next contract and feeling like he needs to be the man? Presumably the improvement took place over the summer, so I'm guessing no on that.

I'd love to believe it's some kind of mental maturation. I'd love to believe this guy has the capacity to harness all of his physical talent.

Bringing Mobley into this extremely premature Jalen scoreboard thread is kind of a weird flex since he's crushing it under Atkinson so far and the Cavs are 5-0.

Like the run last year late in the season, I'm hopeful this is who Jalen really is and will be. But there have been A LOT of Jalen scoreboard threads on this site, both about him playing great and playing terrible. Four games seems a bit too early for one this season.

Bringing in Mobley to a Silas team with KPj at PG would have been a disaster. I don't need Green to shoot 41% from three for the rest of the season to know that.

Bringing Jalen into a Silas team with KPJ was a disaster too! I'm not trying to get into litigating who I'd rather have between the two guys right now. Just pointing out that Mobley and the Cavs are off to an awesome start this season so bringing him into this is kind of weird.

A disaster? How do you imagine a 19 year old highly talented scoring guard drafted to a tanking team would look like? I expected a lot of looses but hoped that Green showed highs of a future star player and he did given the fact that he's like top 10 in league history in scoring average for all NBA players before turning 22. That's kinda what I was expecting from drafting a 19 year old scoring guard to a tanking team if said scoring guard showed future promise as a star. I did not expect winning and producing pts on a tanking team.

Mobley drafted to the Rockets means no one is going to give a freak about his defensive prowess because people don't pay attention to how good someone is on defense on 20 win teams. And then you have someone no one is paying attention to on the defensive end scoring like 10 PPG as a number 2 pick on a 20 win team. That's what would have happened if Mobley was drafted to the Rockets, a tanking team completely gutted hunting for a number one offensive option drafting a high end defensive role player as their first building block in a rebuild.

Mobley would have been fine as a draft pick if the following season the Rockets had a chance to draft Paolo instead of Jabari. But a back to back of Mobley and Bari as your lottery picks in a fresh rebuild is starting off as a disaster. Maybe if they drafted Mobley, the following season they'd draft someone like Ivy who isn't as talented as Green.

If you can't handle civil push back that just concentrates on on court discussion with no insulting and cordial back and forth, don't post on a message board discussing basketball.

Yes I guess you shouldn't have posted because apparently some text pushing back with zero insults and just on court discussion offends you.

I'm not "offended" by pushback, more seems like you are trying to pushback on an argument I wasn't even trying to make. However you want to define "disaster" is fine. We won 42 games over two seasons and he had a ~54% TS%. I'm sure things would have been bad over that stretch with Mobley here too but not exponentially worse. If you think it would have been that's cool.

I'm also not super interested in the "would we be better with Mobley or Jalen" argument 4 games into the season either. Our rebuild would have looked different. Idk if better or worse than it is as of today, but we're 2-2 so it's not like an absolute truth that we're doing so well that no other outcome could have possibly delivered better results.

You obviously prefer Jalen over Mobley, which at this moment in time seems reasonable. But it seems crazy to bring him into a "Hot damn Jalen is off to a good start" scoreboard thread given that Mobley is playing great and at this very early stage in the season the Cavs look like one of the top teams in the league right now.

You expected drafting a 19 year old scoring guard to a tanking team would result in competing and not be a bottom feeder for at least a couple of seasons?

The difference between Mobley being drafted and Green being drafted to the Rockets is that I both instances the team will win in the low twenties for a few seasons but with Mobley he would get zero recognition or show almost no promise as a franchise cornerstone outside of being a high end role player in a rebuilding team still hunting for a primary scoring option. Like t would be bad enough where I doubt Mobley even gets any all rookie consideration and would be seen as a long term project.

Regardless of the Mobley v. Green debate, I’ve always maintained that I doubt we draft Sengun had we taken Mobley.

I didn't bring Mobley into it, those are quotes from other posters. But just for reference, Jalen's had 114 20pts+ games in his career so far (including 30 games between 30-39 points and 7 40 pt+ games.) Mobley's had 46 total 20pts+ games, only 4 of those were over 30 points and he's never had a 40 pt game. Mobley aint **** in comparison, he's a defender, nothing close to a star alpha scorer. So yeah, Mobley still doesn't hold up or do you not understand how to count?

This is even more ridiculous. Since when did the number of post decides whether a post is legit or what? The logic behind it says all about this thread and I only have one account, period.
