I'll probably be able to sneak down. Though, depending on the directions a few projects of mine take. Of course, what would NY be without the world famous deanbreality tour.

    Admins do.

Remember how you had to sign up with a valid email address? If you chose to allow bbs members to email you, over your posts is a little mail envelope which is a link to email you at whichever email address you specified. Smeg sent an email to AntiSonic through that link above one of AntiSonic's posts, and was just telling him to check whichever inbox that that routs to.

    smeg, how cheap?

i know of a hostel called Manhatan Youth Hostel on Lexington and 100- 102nd streets.

the cafe you speak of, Tom's Restaurant, is on 112th street and broadway, on the upper west side.

there are some really cool places on the UWS: Grant's Tomb, The Cloisters, and Riverside park are very scenic.

take a walk down either River, both are accomodating for pedesetrians.

take a stroll through Central Park, it will take you all day, but you will discover one of New York's oldest gems.

i love to spend the weekends outdoors in Manhattan, it is truly a beautiful place. take the Staten Island Ferry for a good view of Lower Manhattan, including Lady Liberty and Ellis Island.

Ground Zero is Ground Zero, everybody must see it at least once.

do your thing and have fun, let me know when you are coming.

    I LOVE NEW YORK!

    Across110thstreet,

Oct 2nd 2pm and all day Oct 3rd, fly out at 6am on the 4th.

not sure about staying in a hostel, cheapish/reasonable proced hotel is fine.

    UWS is cool.

have spent a week in NYC before, and done Staten Island ferry before, although didn't get to Ellis Island and have heard great things about the Immigration museum there.

like to also maybe catch some alt bands at a club.

i too love NY, and just want to get another quick dose

I just moved to NYC 3 months ago. I was born and raised in Houston for nearly 27 years before I came here. It's pretty exciting here. I already got tickets to the exhibition game at MSG on August 15 between team USA and Puerto Rico.

There is a hotel called Club Quarters on 45th/6th in Midtown where you can get a small Tokyo style room for $95/nite. There is the Youth Hostel on 103rd/Amsterdam on the Westside as well - will probably be less than $35/nite. There is the Hudson Hotel on 58th/8th for ~180/nite and the Hotel Lucerne on 79th/Amsterdam for ~220/nite.

There are some chain hotels in Midtown: Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson, etc.-probably around $100/night.

Empire Hotel is decent-Small rooms, but decent bar. Its on Upper West Side near Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, Central Park. Probably around $80/night.

Pennsylvania Hotel-Across the street from the Garden. Probably around $80/night. Good location to commute from.

Hudson is around $150/night-by far the best of all these. Cool bar.

For alt bands you might wanna try CBGB. I've never been there but its got alot of history. The Ramones started out here.
