I have been getting some albums lately by these 2 artists:

Prince - "1999", "Purple Rain", "Sign O' the Times", and "Dirty Mind"

Bowie - "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust", "Hunky Dory", "Scary Monsters", "Low", and "Heroes"

Favorite song by Prince so far has been "1999", while my favorite Bowie song is "Heroes" although I do like "Fame" a lot as well as "Let's Dance".

At any rate, I know jo mama is a huge Prince fan and we probably have some Bowie fans. Any recommendations for future albums for Prince and/or Bowie?? What are people's favorite songs by these 2 artists?

    When Doves Cry
    Ashes to Ashes

Both have alot of similarities career wise and are known to experiment with different sounds. As tough as it was to get into Low it was even tougher to listen to any of Bowie's work with Tin Machine. Low is starting to grow on me though.

Yes to Prince, no to David Bowie.

You should check out Chaos And Disorder by Prince. My favorite Prince album.

I love Bowie, and I consider Prince to be very, very good.

But by my terms, you've already got more albums than one person can digest at one time. ;)

I would listen to "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" about 20 times in a row. Throw "Purple Rain" in there a few times for a change of scenery.

    :)

    Oh Yesth!

She had an horror of rooms she was tired you can't hide beat
When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home
Well she could've been a killer if she didn't walk the way she do, and she do
She opened strange doors that we'd never close again

She began to wail jealousies scream
Waiting at the lights know what I mean

    Scary monsters, super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared
    Scary monsters, super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared

She asked me to stay and I stole her room
She asked for my love and I gave her a dangerous mind
Now she's stupid in the street and she can't socialise
Well I love the little girl and I'll love her till the day she dies

    She wails
    Jimmy's guitar sound jealousies scream
Waiting at the lights know what I mean

    Scary monsters, super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared
    Scary monsters, super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared

    Scary monsters, super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared
    Scary monsters, and super creeps
    Keeps me running, running scared

    Manny pick up this...

Speaking of the funk, I am just finishing up "Back in the Day: The Best of Bootsy" by Bootsy Collins.

I like both but I'm a big Prince fan.

Dity Mind is fun to listen to. He is really coming into his own on that one.

The album 1999 is great. DMSR is one of the best dance songs ever. Nothing is funkier than that one. And only Prince could pull off International Lover.

    Everyone knows Purple Rain.

Sign of the Time is of course incredible. Adore is one of my favorite Prince songs. Absolutely Amazing. Have you seen the movie for it? I haven't seen it in many many years, but I remember it being awesome.

I would recommend everything by prince up to the '90s. Every album has some stand-out songs. I even like his first few albums. It's cool to hear him at an early stage at the age of 18. It's easy to tell he is playing every instrument and singing all back-up on those.

I can't stand Bowie. Very few songs that are even listenable.

Prince is a genius. Every album he put out had at least a couple of classics.

    My favorite song is:

Prince- "I could never take the place of your man"

in my opinion, you got the best of each w/ sign o' the times and hunky dory.

prince - controversy has some cool moments. album after dirty mind, but not quite as good. around the world in a day has raspeberry beret on it. its ok too. you already got all the best ones though. his latest album, musicology was pretty good too, i thought. best thing since the early 90's.

Saw Prince for the first time live in Vegas last year. Guy is an UNBELIEVABLE performer.

    Musicology is a good album

manny , pick up Aladdin Sane by Bowie...

also, I know alot of people hate anything touched by Wes Anderson(dont know why) , but in The Life Aquatic there is a Portugese singer named Seu Jorge who sings Bowie covers throughout the entire film...

his character serves as a chorus for the movie in between scenes, but on the Criterion Collection DVD, you can see all of the Bowie songs performed by Jorge in their entirety...
