I noticed that during the Hornets game, Mooch ran the offense, Steve was at 2 and Mobley was at 3. Taylor and Ming fit fine in their positions and contributed well in the game. Was it just me or didn't they run so smooth w/ an actual point (even if it's Mooch)?
The three guard lineup is abysmal visually, and statistically it is among the very worst as well: Code: Top Five-Man Floor Units # Unit Min Off Def Net W L Win% 1 Francis-Mobley-Jackson-Cato-Ming 34.14% 87.2 77.8 9.4 15 68.7 2 Francis-Mobley-Jackson-Taylor-Cato 5.08% 68.2 80.6 -12.4 4 6 40.0 3 Francis-Mobley-Jackson-Taylor-Ming 4.74% 81.9 84.1 -2.2 3 4 42.8 4 Norris-Mobley-Piatkowski-Taylor-Ming 3.40% 92.6 106.5 -13.9 3 4 42.8 5 Francis-Mobley-Piatkowski-Taylor-Ming 2.23% 112.6 65.7 46.9 2 2 50.0 6 Francis-Mobley-Jackson-Padgett-Ming 2.16% 89.6 101.7 -12.1 3 3 50.0 7 Francis-Mobley-Nachbar-Cato-Ming 2.03% 74.7 105.6 -30.9 1 2 33.3 8 Francis-Piatkowski-Jackson-Taylor-Ming 2.02% 90.9 70.1 20.8 3 1 75.0 9 Norris-Francis-Mobley-Taylor-Ming 1.99% 76.3 102.7 -26.3 2 4 33.3 10 Norris-Mobley-Nachbar-Braggs-Ming 1.91% 98.7 65.8 32.9 4 0 100 I'm sure my vb coding f-d up and I can't edit it, but anyway, the jumble of numbers above shows that the Rox 3 guard lineup w/Taylor and Ming is likely the worst lineup they have had both offensively and defensively this season.
Correction, the Nachbar lineup is slightly worse, but either way, the three guard lineup is just a mess.
The observation that Moochie appears to run the offense better than Francis is the best possible argument for reassigning or trading Francis. And that is after Francis' 11 assist game! Holy Smoke, has it come to this? Has Francis declined to the point where posters even think Moochie is better? God help us!
The lineups with Pike are very productive which is interesting since I am not impressed by his overall play yet and still long for Posey. Anyway, the lineups suggest Pike should be getting more minutes, I dare say, at the expense of Moochie. If SF is able to build on his recent performance, I would play Pike more and rely on JJ and Mobley to help out with the playmaking. Having said that Moochie have had some very productive stints recently which if he could be more consistent with we should see it reflected, positively, in the team results.
A Mooch + Francis backcourt does not excite me. However I am all for moving Francis over to the 2 with a better backup PG / SG with PG's mentality. I am as excited as everyone in seeing Francis dole out 11 assists but that is not something he is going to be doing naturally every night. Francis is more of a scorer. He is one of our best, if not best offensive weapon right now (not counting the slump he is currently in). Do we want our best (or near best) offensive weapon trying to dish out assists (sometimes working, sometimes failing) instead of scoring? That is the dilema. I really think Francis as an offensive SG and defensive PG is the best bet. This allows him to do what he does natually and attack the basket on the offensive end of the court. He is a scoring weapon in this mode. To do this we need a taller SG that can distribute the BB in the Brent Barry mode.
Moochie should not be in the league and I do not like Steve at the two! Very simply, I would love to see the Steve we saw against Detroit. He in my opinion is not worth the max that we pay him if he were to move to the two. He is our PG or he should be traded!
Moochie might be a better Clutch the Bear. (Is the bear's name Clutch? If so, should Mr Hardisty sue?)
LOL. You're right though. Seriously, Moochie is horrible. He's a liability on both sides of the court, is way overpaid, and could be easily replaced by many players. He's just not very good. Honestly, if it wasn't for his hair and name, he probably wouldn't have even gotten that contract. He hit a few game winners. None created on his own. Big deal. Get him out of here. I'd rather have Cuttino run the point than him.
I've never been a fan of moving Francis to the two if your point guard is a traditional small guy. If your two or your three runs the point on offesne, that's great, but Francis would get slaughtered defensively in the west. He just isn't big enough to contend with most two's. If we had a guy who could play two but handle the ball distribution, that would be the ideal scenario.
God, this is unbelievable. The idea of moving Steve to the 2 has merit, but if Moochie is the 1, the idea of playing 4 on 5 has merit. My God, he's caused three second violations two games in a row by passing up a wide open shot. I think everyone's hatred of Steve at the 1 is coloring their perceptions.
Even Yao Ming is a better point guard than Moochie. Alright, just joking. Anyway, I think Moochie should be the very last player to be on the court. Suppose both Cat and Steve are not going to play, I will start the following line-up: PG JJ SG Pike SF Boki PF Taylor C Yao Obviously I hate Moochie as a NBA player. I think he is a great guy off the court though.
