Pierce and Rasheed are too old fat and slow now. Watch out for the Cavs.

sorry guys but lakers are going to kill everyone.

Artest,Odom,Gasol,Bynum,Fisher,Vujiac, and the best player in the world Kobe.

plus the cavs are going to be super slow this year. did everyone forget that their center is shaq and their backup is another huge man in big z. slow.

same thing goes for celts. everyone is aging, they wont be as fast.

lakers have advantage againsst these two.

the only two to actually give them a challenge are the spurs and magic.

the magic are young, and their veteran (Vc) can still run and dunk better than most players in nba...

and the spurs just got younger with the addition of rj. if duncan sits out they will also be a team to keep up with the lakers. and when the lakers play slow, so will they.

i'll say the lakers or cavs.

the cavs match up extremely well with the celts. and they now match up extremely well w/ the magic (added size on the perimeter--the main reason they lost).

the lakers are their main challenge.

When we talk about Lakers I am worried about their chemistry. We all know what does Ron Artest mean.

    i got the lakers repeating.

if not the lakers i can see San Antonio stealing it, thats if Manu, Tony, and Tim are healthy

im just saying, i mean when ron was with the rockets we never said anything about him and ruining our chemistry, what makes the lakers so different?
i mean they do have arguably the best coach of all time, and a top 5 best player of all time, i think ron knows to be on good behavior.

If everybody can stay healthy the Spurs are easily my pick to win it all.

With the addition of Richard Jefferson plus the de facto addition of Manu, their perimeter offense is going to be MUCH more dangerous. Tony Parker is still unguardable. Duncan is still Duncan. Pop is still Pop. Plus, the additions of McDyess, Ratliff and Blair is going to make life a veritable hell for opposing big men. Their interior defense is going to be physical and rugged.

You won't want any part of this team once April 2010 comes....

    I'll take the Spurs.

They made moves to bring in people to take some of the burden (and minutes) off of Ginbobli and Duncan. McDyess is the best sidekick Duncan has had since David Robinson and Richard Jefferson is a great scorer who I think will thrive in San Antonio's system with his ability to space the floor shooting the 3 and his ability to finish strong at the rim. He can give you 30 points on any night and will probably average an efficient 16-17ppg.

I think LA screwed up by acquiring Ron. He's the first guy I've seen on that Laker team since Shaq who will stand up to Kobe. I can't see those two co-existing in the locker room or on the court. Ron worked here because he was on his best behavior (which apparently was still not great) AND because once McGrady went down there was no personality conflict because everyone else on the team is quiet, professional and has no ego.

I have absolutely no clue who is going to come out of the East with all the roster changes and health issues with the top 3 teams.

I say the Cavs. They were really close last year and Shaq should put them over the edge.

    Contract year vs. multi-year deal.

    My choice is SA*.

    *Injuries could easily derail.

Spurs... if not them, Orlando... if not them... Lakers (only if Artest has a pivotal role and we don't get into any nasty games during the play offs.)

Lakers weren't even that good last season. The NBA was weak. They had to go out and get Artest because of the Spurs' moves. LA failed to address its biggest weakness (PG). Wouldn't be surprised if they made a fairly significant move because of it.

So its the Spurs if healthy. Duncan outplays Gasol with ease. You have Ratliff/McDyess/Blair (18 hard fouls) to throw at Bynum and Gasol. Bonner forces either Gasol or Bynum out to the perimeter.

Statistically Manu (if healthy) helps to offset Kobe's performances, then you have Richard Jefferson just in case. You will see the best defense of RJ's career this season btw. Oh and did we mention their 3rd best swingman is Roger Mason!

Then you have the Parker vs Fisher (uh oh) matchup. In other words Kobe wont be leading the series in scoring...
