We are going to assume that LJames is going to NY like the rumors say. We are also going to assume that Wade, Bosh and Amare test the FA. With an expiring 24Mil from Tmac do we want to resign him...or try our luck with another? If I missed out on a big name that would be a big help pick other and explain. This is just for fun and is 2 years away but that is the fun part.
Now I started a thread about Amare but that was more of a if Bosh resigns (does it feel like he will). I figured Amare would be a easier target and regardless how well Scolandry are doing we can definitely use a bigger upgrade at the PF. But my first vote would be for Bosh easily. Bosh and Yao could terrorize the low post, no? Or would Bosh have a hard time operating the low post with a big man down there like someone pointed out a weakness for Amare. Only problem is the SG market unless Tmac takes a big undercut? Vet minimum? hahaha
Hopefully resign McGrady and Artest. Anything less and its step 1 all over again trying to rebuild around Yao and X. It will be the 3rd time we have changed Yao's surroundings and sacrificed depth. Gotta live and die with this core IMO.
I want Bosh but most superstars resign with their respective teams...however, if Toronto continues to lose out in the first round I can see him coming back to Texas...Houston preferably.
Give me one good reason why any max level player would want to sign here. Yao? He's not that great to begin with and he's only getting worse.
I don't think so. I think Yao clogs the paint and would severely limit Wade. A team with Wade, Yao, and Artest would have even worse spacing than with Tracy. I think ideally you want a guy who does what Mcgrady was supposed to do when he came here: a guy who can get his teammates open, a guy who can get to the rim when Yao's out, but most importantly a guy who can compliment Yao by knocking down the long jumper when open. Joe Johnson would fit this team perfectly. I think if you get Wade, you should look to create a more uptempo lineup, that means no Yao.
Ditto, except I'm concerned about Amare's knee becoming a problem again. I might strike him off my list.
As crappy as TMac shoots the 3, Wade shoots it far worse. His game is getting to the line and the rim. I'm not sure how about Bosh. I haven't watched him too much so if he has a good jumper I'd like him. Amare has already said he wants to be the man, so no dice. I think I'd like JJ the most.
The difference is, unlike Tracy, Wade plays within his ability and takes about one 3-point shot per game while Tracy chucks up 4 or 5.
But Wade's game needs the lane to be cleared out imo, so he'd be a bad FA target w/ Yao. But then again he played well w/ shaq so u never know.
Wade went to the ECFs and won a championship in consecutive years with Shaq. Wade would get Yao more easy baskets than he's ever seen.
To people saying Wade wouldn't be effective with Yao clogging the lane: what do you think Shaq was doing when they won the championship? Shooting outside jumpers?
I don't know if you guys understand what i meant. Wade is a great talent. He would help whatever team he went to. He probably would help Yao out but Yao would do nothing to help his game. Also i think Yao "clogs the paint" more than any other player in the league. He's only effective if he is given time to work himself into good position in the post or given a good entry pass. Shaq could flash into the post quickly, if he didn't have good position he would give Wade space. Wade got in the paint and tossed Shaq lobs regularly, who even at that age was more athletic. Yao is not instinctive enough to catch those kinds of passes also he's not a dominant enough rebounder or outlet passer to help Wade get out in the open court where he is unstoppable. Its not really a knock on Wade, i guess a slight knock on Yao but i think a guy like Joe Johnson can help Yao as well as benefit from all the open jumpshots that Yao creates for perimeter players. Does Yao's contract end in 2010 as well? If we were to get Wade i would prefer we moved to a quicker lineup to suit him, with a more mobile big.
