Isn't Pau Gasol is a lot smarter than Kobe? The guy could have been a doctor and his interest include playing classical music on his piano...
There are plenty of different types of intelligence. But in terms of academic rigor, I'm gonna go with Jeremy Lin here with Battier a close second. I read an interview of Lin's where he said his favorite class at Harvard was a social science research methods course where he designed and ran a randomized experiment to test some social science theories. Anyone who does economics, statistics, or biology for a living will appreciate how impressive that is for an undergraduate to do. Putting Shaq and Kobe at the top is absurd. Not even close.

i dont see how its absurd to include kobe...though very arrogant, the guy comes off as extremely intelligent IMO...hard to judge his academic/book smarts- no college and pretty sure his mind was elsewhere his last couple years of high school ...but yeah shaq is definitely absurd lol
