There is always a debate over the top players in the league but I want to know who you guys think are the most overrated ones?

    I'm going w/ KG & CWebb.

KG is an athletic freak w/ a lot of game but I just don't see where he is all that. He makes 25mil a year but is quoted as being torn between taking games over or passing off to Billups or Peeler. Hell, I remeber the game this yr. v. the Rocks where he had 2 TO's w/ less than 30sec in the game to help the Rocks comeback and win not to mention 5yrs in the playoffs, 5 1st rd. exits.

CWebb is just scared in the 4th so I don't see why he is jocked so much either. He was supposed to be the King's best player but Bibby is the guy who isn't afraid to take the big shot. 6pts after halftime in game 7 of the WC Finals. Nuff said.

Garnett is da freakin man, but yeah I guess he is just a teensy weensy bit overrated. $25,000,000 is not worth it for a guy who thinks he is a role player.

Webber is just a big p***y.

Iverson is overrated. Kobe would probably score 40-45 pts per game if he got to jack up as many shots as Iverson. Yeah Iverson is a one man team so he doesnt get as many open looks as Kobe. But the freakin moron is just a loser. Practice Practice...that was the single most stupidest interview I have ever seen on television.

Bruce Bowen is overrated as a defensive player. He is above average, but defenitely not great.

Kevin Garnett isnt the most overrated player. He dosent have the talent around him to survive in the west. Also its not his fault that the management made some stupid decisions costing them four 1st round draft picks. If the wolves were in the east they'd be contenders every year but that isnt the case. Not to mention Marbury forcing that trade. Those two had something good going. Steph hasnt been back to the playoffs since.

I hope that was a bad attempt at humor, because the Kobe vs Penny comparison is pretty baseless. What do they have in common other than being teammates with Shaq? Kobe plays his ass off on both offense and defense, as well as making players around him better, something Penny can never claim.

Vince Carter is definitely the most overrated in the NBA. Lots of flash, very little substance. I will not consider him a franchise player until he learns to play defense.

You are right, it isn't his fault that they jeopardized their future for Joe Smith, but you can't blame it on the talent around him. He signed the contract that would pay him 25mil this year and 28mil a year for the rest of it. What did he think that contract would do to the team? Next year, half the TWolves salary will be tied up in HIM and him alone. Combined, KG and Brandon are gonna make nearly 40mil next year. For a guy who wants to be treated like a role player, he isn't being payed like one. If he wants some talent around him, he needs to take a pay cut and I don't see that happening anytime soon. If your'e gonna make that money, you should be able to do it all by yourself b/c you won't be getting much help (thanks to yourself of course).

with Shaq. . . they are very Kobe like. Penny was COLD back them.
He was a D*MN good player. The injuries and whining has made
Penny look bad .. . but MAKE NO MISTAKE . . ORLANDO made it
to the finals because of SHAQ AND PENNY . . . not just shaq!!!

put kobe on that orlando team . .. THEY STILL GET SWEPT!

You guys all suck. VC and Marbury are two of my favorite players.

    Vince's overrated huh?
He carried the Raptors' team to the second round in 01 and was just a shot off of Eastern Conference final. And how was his past season's performance disappointing? The Raptors were 8 games above .500 before he injured himself and still managed to get in games hoping on one foot.

    Marbury's overrated too huh?
If many of you actually watched Suns' game last season, it's obvious that the Suns have no offense, none. Marbury was their only offensive weapon along with Marion. But Marion is no creator, most of his points comes from fastbreaks and put-backs, while on a half-court set, he's ineffective. That left all the load to be carried on Marbury's back, you can't really blame him for their ridicules record when other players just plain suck.

well it used to be scottie pippen before everyone realized hes really not very good. now id have to say its either mobley, ming, or nachbar, at least as far as your opinions go. lets throw eddie griffin in their for kicks too. 37% fg percentage?

and while we are at it, how about craig biggio for the most overrated/overpaid active player in baseball. the only thing worse than his offense is his defense.

    go stros

Allan Houston, Grant Hill, Pippin, CWebb(if he could only handle the crunch time), Garnett is great but his contract is silly, G. Robinson, Antwain Walker

Without Shaq, Kobe Bryant = Jerry Stackhouse. No one who is single teamed on defense deserves the label of 2nd best player in the league that I have seen applied to him so many times. Larry Hughesw faces the same defensive pressure as Bryant.

Rocket River- I, more than anyone here, could care less about numbers. Especially when you compare players on different teams, in different conferences, in different years, in different situations, with different coaches.

With that being said, Kobe is twice the player Penny ever was. If you are using stats to convince yourself that they are equal, then I can find stats that will tell you that Stephon Marbury should be considered one of the best All-time PGs.

Like Marbury, Penny is a perennial loser. Kobe is anything but a loser. He plays his ass off, Penny doesn't. Is there a stat for that? Is there a stat for being a defensive stopper?
