If it's pretty simple how come a lot of posters are not agreeing with the top four players you presented? You didn't even identify that you are talking about the value of the player to the team not their skill set.
If a poll was ran asking who the best player on this team was...James Harden would be the consensus choice ahead of Dwight. If a poll was ran asking who the second best player on this team was ... Dwight Howard would be the consensus choice ahead of Asik, Parsons, Beverley, Lin, and all the rest. If a poll were ran asking who the 3rd and 4th best players on this time were behind Howard and Harden..the most likely winners of that poll would be Parsons and Beverley. If you don't believe this is true....post the poll and we can find out. I'm satisfied that this board believes the 5 best players on this team are Harden, Howard, Parsons, Bev, and Asik. You may possible prove that most of us think that Asik is a better player than Parsons. Frankly, I believe he is. But even if you proved that Asik would win the poll as the 3rd best player...I still believe 4th and 5th would be Beverley and Lin. But like I said...for your amusement you can post a poll asking who the best, second best, third best, 4th best, etc. are. I am comfortable to start where I started.
My best 5 are: Harden Howard Asik Lin Parsons How did I come up with that ranking? Take each of those players and put them on a team with replacement level players at the other 14 roster spots. Which player's team would have the best record? I believe that the order I have given would be the ranking of those teams' records.
Nobody would hate on Parsons. Just look at that pretty face. One of the reasons clutchfans were so in love with Parsons.
Harden Howard Parsons TJones Asik Then Lin, Pat, and DMo. The concern is who the consistent 9th rotation player is. After a good start, Hamilton has started to slump. We need either him or Casspi to step up.
Huh. There's two different things. Best, and most important. Best Harden and Howard at 1 & 2, then there's a big dropoff. 3) Asik 4) Parsons 5) Lin 6) TJones 7) Bev 8) DMo 9) At this point it gets really hard to say. Most important 1) Harden 2) Howard 3) Parsons 4) Bev 5) TJones 6) Lin 7) Asik 8) ...Hamilton? Whomever we're playing at backup wing. 9) DMo
I'm on board with this except I think Asik is probably 5 on importance given Howard's propensity to commit silly fouls and that small balling the playoffs with Harden on their 4 is a real possibility.
In no order the top 4 are Howard, Harden, Parsons, and Asik. 5th best is a tricky question and you'd have to define "best" better. If "best" means the player with the most individual talent, the answer is probably Jones, if "best" means the best team player then it's either Bev or DMo
Harden Howard Asik Parsons/Lin/Jones in any order depending on the game(s). Beverley If Parsons is not in a funk he would be #3 easily. But he is in a funk and he is not clearly #3.
Should've let people start vote from number 3, (Harden and Howard are top 1&2, most people agreed). Or put all the names on the list, not just limited after preselected "top 4". Harden Howard Lin Asik Parsons
LOL OMG... How are people really falling for this thread, and this troll? Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe this guy. Did Terrence make out with your girlfriend or something? Geez. Hmmmm... Where are you going with this.... I wonder..... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=252295 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=251794 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=251793 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=251986 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=245239 Maybe the same F-Ing vendetta you've been on the past 8 months. I hope Morey extends Jones for the next 20 years just to piss you off. Its time to get a life. Jones is a Rocket and its likely he might be a Rocket for a really long time so its time to move on.
Some of you got it all wrong, a good defense big man is harder to find, but that doesn't mean he's a better player.
Eh, I put Jones 4th, Asik 5th. Jones PER is nice, he has zero games but then he has lights out games, and when he does we win. Asik I think would be 5 because of what he does for the team. He anchors the defense and allows everyone else to do their thing. LOFs are getting a hard time in this poll, it seems.
Harden - superstar, best 2 in the game, above average at the 1 as well, takes over games regularly and carries the offense by himself Dwight - superstar, best 5 in the game, dominant defense, dominant offense in a 2 man game, still a post up threat against average rim D even though his fundamentals have always been crap, which is pretty much a testament to how athletic he is The rest are all equal to me because they all have big flaws Parsons - all around talent, excellent slasher, usually a deep threat, nice wing D, decent playmaker, fills up the entire stat sheet, just not enough considering the guy gets almost 40 mins a game Lin - excellent attacker, can create for himself and others, can take over games and carry the offense by himself but that's only once every 5-10 games, huge TO problems Bev - one of the best wing defenders in the game, instant boards, but on offense can't create or do anything except spot-up 3 Asik - instant boards and rim protection, good screen setter but can't catch a ball to save his life
