This is not to say Collier is a bad pick or player, but over the years Rudy and CD seem to pluck guys from nowhere and select them to be Rockets, the obvious examples are Horry, Cassell, Mobley, Drew, Turkan, Dickerson, Kenny T, Collier and Langhi.

In other words who will be the unknown that the Rockets will pick??

So who will be the guy this year that makes everyone go "What we draft him!!!!!!!!!" and will then have the fans waiting to see if the perform of Fail.

History would also say there is a fair chance the Rockets will draft a College senior, is there a College Senior in the Draft that is an unknown that will make the fans go WHAT!!!!!

Who are the players that play for tiny schools in bizarre leagues or where are the players that have dropped from fame due to injury, team failure or off court problems.

Or will the Rockets Shock us all by bucking their own recent trends and draft a High School player???

This is no laughing matter. I'm scared to death we're going to draft the first Cambodian player or something. [IMG]

Please Rudy... just make it a name we've at least heard of. [IMG]

    or
    Ruben Boumtje Boumtje 7-0 257 C Georgetown ^Sr.

    http://nbadraft.net/profiles/rubenboumtjeboumtje.htm

    he's the recap

Has excellent athleticism and quickness. Very inconsistent. Still developing overall game. Trying to live up to the Georgetown center tradition (Ewing, Mourning, Mutombo) will
not be spoken in the same breath with them but with discipline could become a nice center in the league.

And he's from Cameroon (nearly Cambodia)

    is also a strong possibility

Personally, I think the "surprises" have already been figured out by Rockets fans for this year's draft. The two I think would be surprises to a lot of people are Vlad Radman at #13, and TRock at #23. Vlad was the Rockets secret for a while, according to Pops, but he had other stellar workouts, and his secret reached the mainstream. TRock is not projected to even get drafted by many "experts", so it would be a Collieresque pick for us if we took Morris at #23. To a lot of us Rocket fans who are high on TMo, it would not be unexpected, or even ill-advised. But to all the ignorant NBC NBA commentators grading everyone's draft, that move will be controversial.

I would love to have TMo as our Collier pick, and I think that by the end of next season, we will be extending his nickname from TRock to TRocket.

Shabazzz is 225? [IMG] This makes the chance of the Rockets drafting him all the more likely.

This is such a depressing topic made even more depressing by the fact that some of these projections could become realities.

That was my point, Smeg. It would not be a Collier pick from the viewpoint of some Rocket's fans... but to the commentators at the draft, it will certainly be a Collier pick, because no one expects him to go 1st round, and some don't expect him to get drafted at all.

Okay, this should shock everyone. The Rockets swap picks to move up & also acquire a second round pick, to pick this kid.

    http://nba.com/draft2001/playerfiles/ismaila_sy.html;$sessionid$RQ54Q4UAEI2FFFMDAYRSFEY?_requestid=405389

I'm going out on a limb [IMG] & guaranteeing that we'll acquire at least one second round pick.

After all, what would a Rocket's draft be without Rudy's second round sleeper? [IMG]

I agree with the posters who point out that TRock may be the Collieresque pick this year.

It is more when the Rockets pick someone the commentators simply cannot understand, than when they fake out us. I think we do a pretty good job of anticipating the possibilities.

When it comes to TRock, we are a handful of people who (1) understand the Francis connection, and (2) pour over every detail of the draft like we had a final exam coming.

When the Rockets picked Thomas, it did not surprise me. It did not surprise me when they picked Pryzbilla, but it did surprise me when they swapped and got Collier. It did not surprise me when they picked Najera, but it did when they swapped him for Langhi. I never saw that coming.

Because of the three picks and the inability to distinguish talent between 10-25 well, this draft means there may be no surprises, at least to this group.

Now watch Rudy jump up and bite me in the A$$.
