this thread is superfluous. All we do on this forum is argue with each other about nothing. It's getting old.

Judging from the threads in this forum, Artest hands down. ;)

Artest is not a new breed of player. He's talented...but not Yao Ming talented.

Very few, if ANY, 7'6 giants have been able to play at Yao Ming's level. 25/10/2 on 85% FT shooting by a 7'6 center? It's unheard of. Manute, George and Bradley...all stiff's who are nothing more than poster material.

I wouldn't have started this thread if Inspector Gadget didn't "debate" me on this.

Yao is a favorite player but I have to go with Artest but its kinda unfair poll, comparing a center to a SF.

You do realize that Ron Artest is probably going to be reading all this crap you guys are typing.

Its ESPN's fault. Every damn show they have has some kind of argumentative aspect to it. Hell Around the Horn even has a points system for it.

Usually a more athletic/mobile player is going to be a better all around player then a nonathletic giant that can barely jump.

actually yao can hit 3p :D i mean if yao work on practice his 3p skillz, he might be the best 3p shooter in the team due to his imba free throw skillz. anyway have2 go for ron tru warrior ftw!

All-around player would be Artest, he is a complete 2way player.

Yao is great offensively, good defensively but with several key weaknesses.

The PER's do not account for defense, but in my opinion Yao's significant, and I mean, SIGNIFICANT, offensive efficiency advantage in that regard negates the smaller-than-people realize net defensive value each one holds. Ron is a great on-ball defender, but Yao in the paint, especially the past three years, has been a good defensive force against the entire opposing team, and the fact that he's learning how not to get baited into stupid fouls (and getting more respect, which will never be as much as he would get if he were not Chinese) means that he will only improve more in the next few years.

    As some side issues:

-Yao turns the ball over a lot, but if you weren't following Artest in Sacramento, he does too
-One of the main reasons for Yao's great offensive efficiency is his shooting touch, both from the midrange and from the foul line. There has NEVER been a big man over 6"10 I'd warrant to have as high a single-season percentage as he had last year.
-Health is a big negative for Yao, but Ron has had his share of dings the past two years even if they have not nearly been as major.

Basically, their strengths and weaknesses match up well. But I have give the nod to the person with the career PER near 23-24 over the guy with the career PER around 18 .

And it has nothing to do with the fact that Yao is Chinese or a freak of nature. Go figure.

    Artest is the more multi-faceted..

Im yet to see Yao get, or even make an attempt at getting, an account
    on Clutchfans.

one has to be either blind or be lying to say ron is better.

(skip a thousand reasons, :) ) and the market favors yao as well. otherwise ron should've been making the max $.
