it has to be rafer, because he's regarded as probably the greatest streetball player in the history of new york basketball, and they've seen their share of legends out there. skip has to be it. steve comes in second.
Stevie is the only one out of those guys who won MVP in the streetball league so clearly the right choice is #3, Steve-O.
Skip hands down.. I can't even imagine Steve being up there.. even though he does have streetball credentials but Skip created everything.. Steve is just there to imitate it.
Kenny Smith is a very underrated streetballer. He's far and away the best passer and he's got some mad handles. He's not the dunker stevie though, but he still gets my vote.
Kenny Smith is not a better passer or dribbler than Rafer. Rafer is not as good a shooter or dunker as Kenny. Steve is a combination of both.
Steve Francis without a doubt. Do you really think that in a one-on-one game or even a streetball game that Alston will be able to hold Francis? One is an all-star, the other is a role player. I mean we traded this guy because we thought his style of play was too "playground". There is a reason that only a very very few streetballers have even made it on to an NBA roster. This is because for most of the time, you put a bunch of NBA scrubs out against the And1 team and they will rape the And1 team.
NY has had some incredible streetballers - I'm not sure where Rafer would rank among them, but people like Joe Hammond (The Destroyer), Pee Wee Kirkland, and Earl Manigult (The GOAT) are usually considered the greatest streetballers ever from NY.
In a street ball game none of that matters. There are NBA players at Fonde that get lit up by streetballers. Steve Francis had 50-60+ points dropped on him a couple of years ago in a DC (?) tournament. Nobody really plays much defense in these games. Moochie Norris was a stud this past summer at Fonde, yet he's a scrub in the NBA.
Yea its almost an unwritten rule not to go overboard with defense. That's why Bruce Bowen would have a nightmarish time in a streetball game. Streetball generally brings out raw athleticism and speed in players which is why I'd say steve or rafer. Kenny just isnt quick enough to survive against the top streetball players.
I agree.. and would also love to see Skip VS Steve... i wish there were summer NBA one on one tournaments.... or during the all-star weekend... i bet it would be more exciting than the dunk contest
I love Franchise, and I'm STILL his biggest fan, but Skip is the #1 streetballer. The man is a legend, check out his mix tapes.
skip is a streetball legend. he is consiered the best streetballer of all time. who cares if steve scored a lot one summer and won MVP? streetball is about making the crowd go "OOOOH" and no one EVER did that more than skip. take it from me, i've actually played at rucker. the kids that play there don't say "i wanna be the next steve."
