who is the best rockets 6th man ever? i mean today von wafer or landry would be a top 6th man but how about in the past?
I forgot. But I do remember Cassell came in 2nd to Kukoc one year and lots of media voices felt Cassell was most deserving.
Cassell, easily. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBJ8MfQKmQA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KBJ8MfQKmQA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Sam Cassell but he was really not a 6th man but more of a just a guy who split time at the point with K.S. I mean, he closed out the 4th qtrs. Mario Elie was more of a true 6th man.
Eh, you know I thought about saying that but I looked at the numbers and his productivity wasn't as impressive as I remembered. I think what you may be recalling was his productivity when he returned from his drug suspension - for the first few months he was averaging 20 ppg off the bench, then tailed off towards the end of the season.
Bobby Joe Reid was pretty good too because of how versitile he was. He could play the 1,2, and the 3. That 86 team was so versitile it wasn't even funny. They had mutiple guys who could play multiple positions. They didn't have matchup issues like the team we have now. Lakers have a 6'9 pg, no problem, we have bobby joe. There wasn't a fire they couldn't put out.
Reid was the first guy I thought of, after Sam Cassell. He only started 5 games in the '85-'86 season, but we don't go to the Finals that year without him, IMO. 12 points off the bench at 46%, which was more than the starter, McCray. Played wherever Fitch put him and played very, very well. That team was the deepest in Rockets history, as far as I'm concerned.
