Looks like a 3 horse.. maybe 4 horse race for the #3 spot on rockets. I know its a team but these things have a way of shaking themselves out.

Who do you think is our 3rd best , 3rd most important player? basically #3 rockets
    ??

I assume the LOF will drown out any other votes but some think asik and parsons are the 3rd most important to this team. I happen to be one of them that thinks parsons is our 3 most important player. 3rd most of everything to us. Doesnt mean I dont think lin and asik are important. I just feel in the end its harden howard and parsons coming at ya.

That's just my opinion as some hack on clutchfans.

Just a poll to see where clutchfans brain is at

I would say Parsons has the potential to be a legitimate no. 3 honestly. Outside of that, I would say Lin.

3rd best is Asik. 3rd most important is a little subjective, but would go Parsons since he is best SF by a lot.

Parsons is #3 but Lin is 3B. I would add that Asik is 3C. And Bev is 3D. Their importance to the team is that close.

And we will need all of them to contend this season. Trades be damned right now, we need to work on chemistry with the current team right now.

It's hard to say because they all have different jobs to do.

But Asik makes the biggest impact on the team.

It's like asking who is better... Peyton Manning or Adrian Peterson? Well, both are one of the best of all time at their positions. But Manning plays a more important position and has a larger impact on the game.

But does that make him better?

This poll shouldn't even be close. It's Asik. Just because he's likely not going to play 30mpg with us next year doesn't mean he's no by far better than Lin or Parsons.

overall skill wise, it's gotta go to Lin, but importance to the team, it'd be Asik or Parsons...

I can't ever see Parsons or Asik taking control of a game against a championship Lakers, Spurs, or Mav team...

Generally I rate their importance to the team as follow: If they go down, can other players take their place and produce at an acceptable rate?

    So my vote would be:
    1. Asik - if he goes down Dwight would either have to play 48 minutes or Smith will be backup C, both options aren't very desirable.
    2. Parsons - I suppose Garcia can produce at a somewhat acceptable rate, and there's Brewer too.
    3. Lin/Bev - the PG spot is pretty deep so these two aren't that important relative to Asik/Parsons.

The reason why I put Asik first is because he's the only defensive anchor (next to Howard) this team has, and both of them make up the defensive core that is hard to replace.
In contrast, Parsons/Lin/Bev, along with Harden, form an elite offensive core that is also interchangeable, unless Parsons/Lin/Bev all go down from injuries. But freak cases like that are obviously not considered.

    in term of plays
    howard >= harden > asik > lin >= cp

    in term of value
    harden >= howard > cp >= asik > lin

    why no pb
pb proven that he was a better fit to the rox last season, but that didn't mean he was a better player than lin.
also, adding dh to the mix will probably boost lin's contribution(considering that he is the best passer abd pnr player in the team).

If he had simply asked who the 3rd best was instead of adding 3rd most important , I think you would be right.

Thing is , I see the answer to those two questions having separate answers - Asik is their 3rd best player .... but Lin is the 3rd most important (Im no LOF) because when Harden is not on the floor , they have to have someone who can make plays for others by getting to the rim.

(Don't get me wrong on the Mad Chicken either .... CP2.5 is my favorite current Rocket)

3rd best is clearly Asik. Legitimate top 10 center. Neither Lin or Parsons are clearly top 10 for their position.

3rd most important would be Lin. If Parsons missed the entire season we would survive. Asik is potentially a trade piece for a PF. However, if you lose Lin there is no credible 2nd play maker behind Harden.

If Harden were injured for any prolonged period of time, your offense pretty much goes into the crapper in the absence of Lin.

As for 3rd most highly valued by the team, that would be Parsons simply due to his his high contract to production value. Asik is somewhat discounted over his market value, Lin is about par for the value. Parsons is dirt cheap.

You can replace Lin with any number of legitimate offense creating PG's. Asik isn't easily replaceable, but we already have Dwight. Parsons isn't easily replaced at his salary.

    Just my opinion. ^_^

Omer is our 3rd best player, but until we see how exactly the team plans to use him we can't know if he will be our 3rd most productive player or if Parsons and Lin will share that distinction.

sounds like we have a legit debate here.

poll showing even distribution so far.

I think its a good thing when there is no clear 'better' or 'more important' between 3-6

That means we are either stacked or maybe our 3rd best just isnt all that good compared to rest of league?

Or they're simply 2 different questions.

"Best" vs "Most important" are different questions.

In terms of raw value, probably Asik. But given the context of "on the team" honestly.... Lin. I think his performance is likely to have the most impact on the team's success.
