Right now on Sports Radio 610 (Monday evening), Steve said something (in the sports update) along these lines "there need to be some maturity on this team. Some guys get mad if they don't get their points". He also said that coaching change is not the answer - that he wants his team mates to come back next season more matured and on the same page.

Who was he refering to in the initial statement? I know it is not Yao because Yao does not care about his stats (at least not yet). Hmmmm. What good is that statement? Anyway I want someone who heard to tell me/us how he would interprete that or if you have not heard it, I believe it will be replayed in the "sports updates".

Disclaimer: I summarized what I heard. It is possible for someone else to intreprete it differently.

I heard it too. My initial thought was Glen Rice. I've seen Glen sulk to the press a number of times this year about guys not sharing the ball. I hardly think Steve would have made a lack of maturity comment about Rice, though. Must have been Mobley.

NOT RICE!!! Rice doesn't even get to play. I don't think he even cares. He's happily living on his 9.2 million a year.

Griffin did complain once after one of the blowouts last week...but don't know. He's too high.

    Yao...of course not.

Posey..maybe. But he seems content and plays his role well.

Mobley? I don't think so. MAN. HE ALREADY GETS ENOUGH TOUCHES. He demands for the ball and gets it. And he jacks up shots. He doesn't do it often anymore...but still. I don't think he is complaining.

I think they are all a little disappointed because they failed once again.

    People will be blaming something.

But Francis needs to stop talking!

I think he overheard someone say that and just repeated it. Unbeknownst to Stevie, they were talking about him. :D

Dunno.... could be Mobley but I kinda doubt it, he gets his chances and scores enough anyways... Rice? Maybe actually... he was complaining ealier about not getting his touches and about pt or something.. Taylor and Moochie are also likely candidates although Moochie less so since he doesn't really play that much. I don't think anybody else would be complaining, especially not those who don't even play. No way Griffin is complaining, neither Yao or Cato would complain... there's no way Posey could be complaining. Could be any number of ppl.

Well, this is one point that I BACKUP what Francis is saying.

He's the boss of the team. He's the leader in concept, and the actual floor leader as well.
And since Francis is the one that will distribute the ball he has to earn the respect of his teammates. Once he has that, it wont matter as much how many points other players get, as long as they are winning.

If someone has a problem with not getting enough points -- even if they are winning -- then you trade or bench that player.

There can be only one leader. And Mobley is NOT the leader.

StupidMoniker:- For sure I side with you! Steve is repeating what someone else said and they were refering to him, without doubt.Steve fits the description as does Mobley of course. In fact most of the Rockets played a selfish game both on offence and defence, not just the Guards.

I thought everyone wanted to play for Rudy, no matter how much PT or points they got playing under him.

I think it's more a matter of a bunch of hot headed people trying to vent their frustration. I'm sure half the team is unhappy with how their stats look on paper, but until they realize their stats mean nothing unless they are in the playoffs, it's going to be a very long summer.

I think Steve has been pressured by his 'mates to P - A - S - S the ball so much it has stunted his enthusiasm for the game, and his game.

I believe this is why SF has said he wants to be a SG.

I also believe it is why the team tanked after Yao - Shaq I.

I believe it is another example of coaching failure to get the Rox on the same page.

Finally, look to see who is not back to get a very good idea who SF was referring to.

If the P-A-S-S pressure makes Steve want to play SG, let's put more on it!!! Follow me: P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S,P-A-S-S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SF complaining about other players being stat hungry.

    Now I've heard it all.

Stunted his enthusiasm? I hope not. Because what he's doing is the right thing -- sharing the ball.

Now, he might be disenchanted with the game now because he's not "allowed" to shoot the ball as much as he used to -- jack up shots on a whim -- but this is a good thing because he's learning a skill that he should have learned in high-school/college (passing).

In the end, he'll be a better "basketball player."
    Not just a scorer.

Anyone notice we were winning ball games when Steve was scoring 20 or more a game?

This theory of passing the ball is fine but hell who cares if someone gets more points WINNING is everything!

No, we were winning ball games when both Steve and Cat scored 20+ in the game. Steve scored over 20 per game quite often (duh, he is averaging over 20) and we are about .500. If Steve put up 14 pts, 10 ast, 5 rebs, the Rox would be a much better team.

    I'll take a wild guess.

Early on,kenny Thomas was definately complaining about lack of touches.

Posey is in a contract year,so if I was him,Id want many touches. Its ok,we wont sign posey. Barry and Odom are higher on the list.

believe it or not,Griffin is actually complaining. Yeh,I didnt believe it at first either. But my *source* has proven to me he knows griffin and even knows griffins mom and he lives in phily. He said griffin is pissed, and will definately NOT resign with the rockets. I think the rockets know this, and will probably trade him this summer.

I have another *source* who has really convinced me he knows cats former girlfriend personally. He said, she said that cat has told her that he is definately trying to up his stats and sometimes doesnt even give a damn. You guys remember the 2 weeks right before the tradeing deadline when cat was throwing up airballs and sucking, thats when I was told of this insider info.

Its defineately not about steve. IN fact, jim boylen and carrol have stated that steve and ming are untouchables.I have heard rudy tell steve to "shoot it" even when steve was looking to pass. Steve has a better shooting % than cat or posey,so in the best interest of the team, its BETTER that steve is ballhoggin instead of cat or posey.

trade cat & griffin for brand or odom/jaric

I am just taking a liberal guess... it is his buddy Mobley, I bet, that is what steve is referred to.
