I know this is not a baseball board but i was just wondering if you are a fan of the Rangers, even if your not. What do you think about the Arod signing. I know that he signed a long time ago but i just wanted to see your reaction. I'm a baseball fan but quarter billion dollar to one player, that's outragious. I'm gald there is salary cap in basketball. No wonder Ragners can't win, when you spend this kind of money on one player, You ain't going anywhere. Arod is a great player but a single baseball player can't lead a team to win the whole thing. He ain't Micheal Jordan.

Kind of early to write off the Rangers before they've played a single regular season game with ARod. The fact of the matter is, the Rangers payroll is significantly lower with ARod than it was without ARod a couple of years ago. At least the guy they are paying big dollars to is worth the money (and will earn it back for the team with increased ticket sales and sponsorships, etc) The Rangers of the past spent big money on guys like Darren Oliver or Kevin Elster.

ARod won't win it all for the Rangers all by himself, and he's never been expected to. The Rangers of 2001 has loads of power. The Rangers of 2001 have significantly improved defense. They have up-and-coming prospects in the pipeline that will likely pay off in the coming years. They have players that will get people interested in driving out to Tarrant County to see a game more often than they do now. And they have payroll flexibility. They can bring in more free agents and still make profits.

The Rangers should improve this year over last year, but no Rangers fan expects to go all the way in Year One of the ARod deal. ARod is merely a piece of the puzzle.
