 My sis is in the 8th grade and she already has a boyfriend. She wouldn't tell me, she told my brother. I can't believe this. She's too young. I mean, do 8th graders think about *sex*. My folks don't know and it's not my place to say, but I'm worried. I am twice her age, maybe I'm just a worry wart. Kids are more mature in alot of ways these days. I read her aim profile and she seems kinda serious about this guy. This also wasn't her first boyfriend.

Sadly, some are. I am 17, and when I was in 8th grade I heard alot of people talking about sex.

Alot of them were just lying to be cool, but some were serious.

I didn't have one, but people I know definitely had boyfriends and girlfriends in the 8th grade. However, I don't think sex was an issue back then. It was all about "going steady".

Heh, I think you're just being protective. What you should do is pull the boyfriend off to the side and let him know he'll be on a milk carton if he does anything to hurt her. :)

Are you seriously asking if teenagers think about sex? You're not THAT old, are you??

However, just because she has a boyfriend, it doesn't necessarily mean they're having sex. I had boyfriends from the time I turned 12, but I didn't actually sleep with any of them until my late teens.

If you're genuinely concerned, have a talk with her (notice I said WITH her, not AT her). Let her know that you care about her and want to make sure she's prepared to be in a mature relationship. Offer her your support, and answer any questions she might have. But don't lecture -- that'll only send her running in the opposite direction.

If you want her to tell you anything I suggest that you get over it and just be coo about it maybe she might trust you, because if you dont she is going to hate you like I hate all my brothers for being nosy mean people!! OK! Especially if she's only in the 8th grade believe me Im in the 9th grade and these are the years that you can let her trust you or hate you and not tell you anything! and you wont want to do that cuz gurls are sneaky!!:D

8th graders these days are VERY active- don't kid yourself.

In the past 5 years, there has been a disturbing trend in the acceptance of oral sex for people her age. It seems that they have the notion that oral sex is not sex. Gee, I wonder how that idea got into their heads?

Anyway, I hope somebody is taking the time to have very frank conversations about the consequences of all types of sex. Treat her like you trust her, and she will more likely be trustworthy.

I have an 11 year old sister, she'll be getting to that age soon. I remember thinking about sex everyday since I've been 14.

Middle School is a way worse enviorment for experimenting than high school.

I do have a younger sister. She's 20, though. I'm not aware of her sex life, nor do I want to be aware of any aspect of it.

8th graders are never prepared to be in a mature relationship. She's a very smart girl with alot of ambition. And, she is mature for her age. She told my brother about it, so I'll just wait till she's comfortable enough to tell me.

    You mean 13-14.
A 14-15 year old would have failed at least once if they're still in 8th grade.

    24. And, IluvEddie, I guess he's not the "lecturing or nosey" type that I guess I could come off as.

If I were Jeff reading this, I would show mild annoyance. Jeff -- are you above this level of jealousy?
