Kobe, McGrady, Lebron, and there are others, Carter, Pierce.

I think Tmac has the best chance of moving Jordan over, but those are some big shoes to fill.

Kobe-He's got a pretty good chance of being better, but still those chances are slim to none. He's not quite the athlete Jordan was in his prime. He's semi-clutch, but I think he's a better defender than Jordan.

Tmac-imo has the best chance. The biggest knocks on him is that he's a little bit more lazy on the defensive end, but if he wanted he could lock down a lot of superstars. He needs to improve his ft's on the offensive side. He also needs to start going deeper into the playoffs, but thats not his fault, its grant hills

Lebron-don't know how he'll even fare in his first nba game, but i think he's more of a Magic Type Player. If he develops an incredible shot, then he's got the best chance of reigning in Jordan's throne.

Barring a injury or the desire to retire early Kobe will be considered one of the best of all-time. He will pass Jordan in every statistical category because Jordan missed 3 years taking time off and Kobe came directly out of high school. Kobe should also pass up Jabbar for most points scored ending up #1 in that category. No telling how many rings he can get because he already has 3 at such a young age. Statistically he should become the greatest of all-time but he will never do as much for the game as Jordan did.

How in the world does LeBron, who has never played in a game, have more votes than Tracy?

I think that's the fault of crappy competition and a watered down league. There hasn't been a finals where it's Kobe vs. Paul Pierce, TMac or some other prime time wingman. Jordan had Drexler, Bird, Isiah, and Magic to build up his name.

The only player in the NBA with the same brain type as MJ is Tracy McGrady. Both Kobe and McGrady face nagging injuries from time to time, so that's not an issue as of yet. The key to who will eventually come the closest (if either) is how well they do on their own. We've seen McGrady, but not Kobe (and what we did see of him on his own, he was pressing and the Lakers were sub-.500, albeit a small sample size).

Kobe gets the media attention due to his market and playing alongside Shaq. McGrady puts up equal to better numbers and gets maybe half of the attention. LeBron shouldn't even be in this discussion until he proves something on the court.

But Kobe vs McGrady will be a question without an answer but with much debate for many, many years.

to anwser you guys concerning how could you vote for Lebron. Well I have no doubt in my mind that Kobe and Tracy will not be a as good as Jordan. So Lebron has the best chance because he has not be proven to be good or bad.

Defintely Kobe. He has the whole package. The rings, personality, all around game. T-Mac has to show me the 2nd round before I can compare him to MJ, well LeBron just has to play and show what he can do. He wont draw any MJ comparison probaly for atleast 3 seasons

How can you apply the 2nd round status to TMac when Kobe has had the assistance of Shaq the whole time - and MJ didn't even get to the 2nd round for several years himself, as I recall? That's just my feeling.

And that's the beauty of the argument - you can't apply any constraining factors because there aren't any that fit. Everyone can debate this for hours on end and get absolutely nowhere, changing no opinions and the like, because it's all subjective.

    Except for one...
LeBron has proven nothing, while Kobe and McGrady have done as much as Jordan did in his first few seasons in the league both without missing nearly a full season due to injury and with the disadvantage of jumping directly from high school. If anything, LeBron needs to prove something in the NBA before any lofty comparisons can be made.

He might do it. But is he the most likely? Not right now.

I love Kobe and T-Mac, but there's nobody playing right now who's as good as Jordan was. Not even close. MJ is in a class of his own and probably always will be.

Kobe will probably retire as one of the best 4-5 players in history (dude is 24, people), but Jordan's status as the best ever is not in jeopardy. MJ was a straight-up FREAK.

T-Mac is an amazing player, too, but he has health concerns (back and knees) that may hamper him down the road.

I'm going to wait until LeBron actually plays an NBA game before deciding whether he should be in this debate.

I wouldn't say Jordan is the best basketball player ever. He might be the best guard, but Wilt is almost certainly a better player.

I voted for Lebron with the same reason as Peleincubus.

IMO Kobe and T-Mac have already *proved* that they are not better than Jordan (i.e. = 0% chance).

Yes, Lebron has proved nothing BUT that also means that he has *not proved* that he is no better than Jordan (very slim chance but as least > 0%).

That in my mind puts Lebron as the best chance.

lol kobe will never obtain anything for the rest of his career.
    When shaq Retires, That's it.
lol he will go to the grizz or be just as terrible as he was when he was a rookie.
Tmac will get his help and then finally people can start seeing just how great he is...
Tmac just needs a scottie pippen like MJ

Kobe gets 30 points a game with Shaq, T-Mac gets them alone. And do yall remeber kobe scoring 40 plus points for 12 games or something i just wonder what he can do alone, cant wait until shaq the fat ass retires.

I love Kobe, but have to give it to LeBron.

LeBron's maturity at age 18 or wahtever is really unparalleled. He's well ahead of Kobe and T-Mac at 18.

What seperates LeBron is his "6th sense" on the court, which allows him to make teammates better.

A portion of Kobe's 40 plus game steak came with Shaq out of the lineup.

Kobe would lead the league in scoring and be the NBA's MVP if Shaq didn't play on his team. We'll soon find out how great he truely is when he opts out of his contract next year and goes to Memphis.

I won't believe the Kobe leaving speculation until I see it, but I don't think Memphis would be a place high on his list. The Lakers did so much to make him the star he is. They've bent their backs to please Kobe when Shaq was clearly the best player on that team. They traded Van Exel and Eddie Jones for popcorn and peanuts. Besides Jerry West is a phone call away. It'll be interesting to see where his loyalty lies.

If he wanted to bolt to endorsement hell, he should pick somewhere in the East at least.
