besides houston, of course. Best: Houston, Miami (butler at 10), Denver, (two top 10 guys, dumped Mcdyess' acl and contract) Chicago (williams alone is pretty good) Charles Barkley Worst: Clippers (just pathetic, did you see any more PF's you can take elgin? Larry Smith is still available) Pacers (freddie Jones? this stinks of an Isaiah pick) John Thompson (to scott layden "these last 48 hours must have been a real swan dance") Quinn Snyder (on Vicodin, hello, pulse??) TroyBaros.
What the **** is going on with Cavs????? Wes Person for Matt Barnes and Nick Anderson??? What a joke! I bet they'll sent Miller to NY for Frank Williams and some peoples who take Gund Arenas' attendance high
german-That was an excellent move by the Cavs IMO. Wes Person has several years left at high dollars, and doesn't fit on the team. Nick Anderson's contract expires at the season's end. Best: 1.) Rockets-Got the 2 players they targeted, and great talent in round 2. 2.) Heat-Butler 3.) Denver-Brought back Jax who can tutor Satterfield. They need to resign Posey to play the 2. A frontline with Tsika, Hilario, Howard, Donnell Harvey and Camby has some potential in it. Worst: 1.) Indiana- Fred Jones??!! 2.) Washington-this team has lots of SG/SF, and undersized 2s parading as PGs...so they draft Dixon, Grizzard, and Juan Carlos Navarro? Didn't they trade Alexander to get rid of that glut? J. Jeffries was a sound pick. 3.) Memphis-Maybe West knows what he's doing...I don't. They spent the #2 on a PF 2 years ago, and #3 on a PF last year...so obviously, they use #4 on another PF? All scrawny ones at that? Then trading for Wesley Person's bloated contract? They have Dickerson signed long term, and with Gooden, obviously Battier will be logging mainly SG minutes. Archibald over Gadzuric?
The hate for Cuttino on this board is astounding... I have my doubts that he'll be a later option than Griffin, who hasn't shown any ability to create his own shot, and Ming, who hasn't played a minute in the NBA. In truth, Mobley scored more PPG than Francis on approximately the same shots per game, so he may very well by the first option. Let me redo that quote...
I think Washington probably should have taken a true point (FW or Dickou) instead of Dixon--but Jeffries and Grizzard are solid picks. They are actually in desperate need for SFs and PG's. Jordan is a big maybe for next year and not in the their term future, and they traded Alexander who they must of thought was more hype than player. If Dixon can make the transition to point (I wouldn't count him out--he is very smart. has great instincts and work ethic)--they have a great draft. I like what Denver did and Memphis. Gooden like Gasol is versitle enough to play positions other than the 4. I agree with Chuckie that Gooden, Caron and JW will havew the easist transition and will produce from day one. (Though unlike Chuck I think Ming will also). My biggest waste of a draft goes to GS. They are going to have a front line softer than a baby's bum, and have a leaderless tream. It is a great thing for them they got their backcourt of the future in Richardson and Arenas is last year's draft. Welsh is a nice player, but for a future lottery pick and a 2nd rounder or two future 1st rounders he is not. Somehow I think Phily is going to get the best of that deal. I have said before taking Dunleavy over Wilcox or Nene is lunacy, taking him over Gooden, Tskit, or Butler is complete luncacy. The Jazz did well, Bordchart has offensive and defensive skills. If he stays healthy he will be a servicable center for a long time--something they have strived for since Eaton I would guess.
I forgot to bash Washington. Players from Indiana end up sucking usually, (Cheaney, Alan Henderson), Jefferies could be the same. And Juan Dixon? MJ thinks he's a winner, so let's blindly follow his lead, Kenny and Charles, start kissing ass now! If Isaiah was behind the Freddy Jones selection (Donnie walsh is usually smarter than that), then He and MJ are vying to become the Willis Reed/Elgin Baylor of the next century. Nobody will top Elgin though, just when you thought the clips were turning it around, boom! he does it again.
The worst is what the Clippers did. They have got a franchise power forward in Brand. Why oh why do they waste the 8th and 12th pick on backups for Brand. Their need positions were center and point guard. If they end up keeping these picks, Elgin should be fired.
NO! NOT THIS TIME !! I read where Elgin had deals set up for MILLER and Baron but the own CRUSHED THEM. I have to stand up for the LOTTO VETERAN! Rocket RIver
dumped Mcdyess' acl Just to be accurate, McDyess had a partially torn patella tendon. Not nearly as bad as an ACL.
In fairness to Elgin, he has lameness thrust upon him by Sterling, who is pro sports' WORST owner by far. He has the Clippers play in the Lakers building, and thus be a distinct second fiddle in their own home arena, instead of the Pond in Anaheim, because its too far away for him to drive! Terrible, I can't even make that stuff up.
Best-Heat, Rockets, Denver, and Chicago. Heat they got the best player in the draft at 10. Rockets they got lots of forien talent exactly what they wanted. Denver pulled off an amazing trade with the knicks. Chicago got their man Jwill and Roger Mason Jr watch out for him next year. Worst-Suns, Clippers, and most of all New York Suns they got Amare Stoudemire who is not a Lottery pick and skipped on Caron Butler. Clippers They got to many useless Pfs and unless they pull of the trade with the Cavs for miller and get rid of Brand their screwed. New York they made a horible trade they have no center no point guard they have Spree, Houston and Mcdeyess they should start rebuilding before its to late.
Best draft Houston,Chicago,Denver aand the Heat did well too. Unfortunately Lakers and the Jazz did well too. Sixers and Indiana did poorly.
Yeah, I hear Steve Francis thought the W's front line was soft before he went up for this dunk. How's his rehab going? About the Philly trade, they did not get a lottery pick out of it -- just their own lottery-protected first-round pick in 2005 or after, which they had traded to GS at the start of the year (in fact, the draft-night deal may have been prearranged then). And the other pick is only a first-rounder if the Warriors finish with one of the three best records in the league next year. You tell me what the odds of that are.
I liked the Warriors draft if they can move Jamison or Fortson for a point guard (I don't think Arenas can cut it). Their platoon of centers is all right and Dunleavy shouild bring some much needed shooting to the worst shooting team in the association.
