How I would distribute the minutes right now, if there are no more trades:

    PG: Francis (40), Moochie (4), Mobley (4), Drew (-)
    SG: Anderson(18), Mobley (30)
    SF: Williams (20), Anderson (12), Langhi (10) Bullard (6)
    PF: Taylor (30), Thomas (10), Williams (5), Rogers (3)
    C: Hakeem (25), Cato (20), Collier (3)

    Most minutes:
    Francis (40)
    Mobley (34)
    Anderson, Taylor (30)
    Hakeem, Williams (25)

Players I would trade for a hustler like Bo Outlaw or George Lynch, if possible: Drew, Rogers, Collier.

How would you distribute the minutes? You have 48 minutes for each position. Of course, players can play multiple positions.

Of course, these are averages for the season. There are more than 12 players, but some will spend some time on the IR.

Here's how I'd like to do it.

    PG- Francis (33), Moochie (13), Mobley (2)

    SG- Anderson (18), Mobley (26), Francis (4)

    SF- Walt (22), Anderson (13), Langhi (9), Thomas (2), Mobley (2)

    PF- Taylor (32), Collier (9), Thomas (7)

    C- Hakeem (20), Cato (24), Collier (4)

Rogers would be on the team, but would not see significant minutes except when injuries occur. This is how I would do the roster if I was Rudy T.

    Cat,

don't open up that can of worms by giving francis minutes at SG.

Also if we get rid of Walt there will be plenty of minutes to go round.

Hey cat, I think you've got it.

That's pretty much the way I expect the minutes to pan out. Give or take 2 minutes to any one of those players.

But, hey pretty damb good minute assessment.

    Smeg,

Not trying to open up anything here. [IMG] It just so happened that many times after Moochie came in, the Rockets played small ball with Francis at SG and Mobley at SF. They did it last year to accomodate Moochie's natural PG skills, and while I don't expect it to be for more than 4 or 5 minutes I would expect you'll see Francis play a little (very little) SG when Moochie comes in.

I would like to see Mo get more than 30 minutes. He played 35 last season and this season he want´s to show everybody how much he´s worth. So he wouldn´t be happy with only 30. If he plays as well as he´s talking about then I would like to give him close to 40 minutes. And even if his game doesn´t improve from last season he´s still much better then Thomas or Rogers

Thats why I think Anderson and Mobley will start because if Mobley starts Anderson
will get more minutes. Minutes will be:

    Francis 40min
    Mobley 33min
    Anderson 29min
    Taylor 34min
    Olajuwon 21min

I am sorry, but I have to disagree with "Det The Threat" Mo 32 min, Thomas 10 min and "The Cat" Mo 32 min , Thomas 9 min.
Mo. I think the minutes will be more evenly distributed like Mo 25 min, Thomas 20 min.
I think Mo has to accept getting less minutes than when he was with the Clippers at 35 min because of the more depth that the Rockets have. I think that Mo and Thomas might be in the line up at the same time.

What are you guys trying to do with 40 min/game for anybody let alone Steve. You trying to get him injured? Moochie avg'd 16+ per game and is adequate. With Mo onboard, Steve doesn't have to carry the team anymore. Steve should play 32 min tops!

    Here's how it should be:

    1) Francis (34), Moochie (14)

    2) Mobley (30), Shandon (18)

    3) Shandon (16), Walt (20), Langhi (12)

    4) Taylor (30), Thomas (18)

    5) Dream (25), Cato (23)

Bullard, Collier, Rogers, and Drew will play spot minutes and significant roles when the inevitable injuries occur.

I don´t think the Rockets have depth at the PF so I would like to see Mo play close to 40 min/gm. And I don´t think that he would get injured just because he plays 40min, I mean the guy is 24 years old. Scottie Pippen played 40 min/gm when he was here and he was 34 years old. If we want to make the playoffs we have to use the best players, and Mo is the best PF on this team.

Not an accurate comparison. Quitten's game is roam floor playing a one-man zone. His offense is not primarily post up. A big difference in expending energy guarding 3's like Rice and Kukoc versus bodying up against Malone or 'Sheed.

Pippen only avg'd 40 min/g ONCE in his career - Rockets. We all know what happened there.

His carreer avg is 35.9. With a deep team like Portland he is now 33.5. This is where Mo should be otherwise you will frop KT from 25 to 8 - not good for morale and not allowing Collier any time at the 4 which is where he's gonna end up.

Here's a list of players who avg'd 40+ min/game last season: Finley, Payton, Iverson Garnett, Shaq, Sprewell, With the exception of Shaq (who had no choice with Sally as the backup) NO ONE IS A POWER PLAYER. Duncan is #10 on the list and he was out 8 reg season games and the play-offs.

I'm glad RT & CD won't allow a Rocks player to pull that kind of time. 32 is tops for Mo also!

It doesn´t have to be 40+ min/gm. I said close to 40 min/gm. A lot of power players played close to 40 min/gm last season, as you said Shaq played 40,Duncan,Mason, Webber and more. Even though Duncan got hurt this year he has played close to 40 min/gm every season. Even Dream played close to 40 min 5 years ago. All I am saying is that to win games we have to use our best players. We can´t keep them on the bench because we´re worried about injuries. If they need rest then it´s ok to let them sit on the bench but if they can play then play. We can´t let the risk of injuries prevent our best players from playing and expect to win enough games to get to the playoffs.

No one is gonna be gettin 40 or very close to 40 minutes a game. The most I see is Francis with a max of 32 or 33. We have such a deep team that we should use everyone we can.

I also think Kenny Thomas deserves some nice minutes too. He's young and he will get better and he needs to play.

Then there's also the all star Langhi who needs minutes.

I sure hope this is a closely knit team, so no one gets upset about minutes.

BASICALLY, we are a VERY deep team now... very Portland-esque.

Yah som1 always gets injured at training camp

here's my shot at the minute game

PG-Francis -36 min Moochie- 12 min ( no1 else should be playin pt.)
SG- Mobley- 28 min Anderson 18 min Walt 2 min
SF- Anderson -14 min Walt- 20 min Langhi -10 min KT 4 min
PF- Mo Taylor -32 min -KT 16 min
C- Dream 15 min Collier 5 min- Cato 28 min

    explanation:

PG-francis odviously needs to play alot. moochie would be effective at 12 min per game, proly even more when we r up alot at the end.

SG- Mobley gets 28 min which is plenty. SA gets alot of time here too. when the 3 guard lineup comes in he plays SF.

C- dream should play 15 min. im worried anymore might be a health risk. in that time he should help us alot on the floor. i wouldnt wanna tire him out. Cato plays 28 min which is plenty until it seems he deserves more. Collier is not ready for NBA ball yet and until he shows every1 otherwise he should come in for about 5 min a game.

PF- Mo taylor odviously will want starters minutes. 32 is plenty. 20 min for KT will be enough. KT is still a valuable player for us i think.

SF- Where it gets tricky. SA should play here during the 3 guard lineup for a litle while. I wish walt could be able to play more but langhi will push for min. langhi isnt ready for starters minutes yet though, but he does need to play to improve.

    IR- Carlos Rogers..
