Who else has had enough of Owens? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2214754 Seriously, this guy thinks he is bigger than the game. Moss does dumb things too but he doesn't constantly bash his team and the quarterback. I would actually choose Moss over Owens any day.
He is a cancer.....one of the worst team killers in the history of the NFL.... They should simply suspend him without pay ala Keyshawn. DD
This was the hammer that the Eagles had hanging over his head since training camp. I think Owens is so used to throwing teammates and coaches under the bus that he thinks he can say anything without consequences. Does he really think that the Eagles will trade him to Atlanta, or wherever the mythical best quarterback in the league, plays just because he's pouting? The Eagles will be nearly $20 million under the cap next season. Why make an NFC rival better and reward this crap> Forget being a team cancer, I think Owens is one of the dumbest people I have ever heard of. I actually think he's mentally ill. Well, he'll have plenty of time to think about this latest dumb move. Way to go T.O.
It's hard to think of any other guy in any sport that has had more of a detrimental effect on his team so fast. It's really sad to see. These are the defending NFC champs who looked poised to repeat until TO started spouting his mouth off. Now their chemistry is shot and McNabb is playing hurt. And you know whats even sadder... after its all said and done, T.O. will probably have his gazillion dollars, his accolades and records. But he probably will be remembered more for having a big ass mouth and even bigger ego and I wouldn't be surprised at all if exits w/o a single ring.
I'm waiting for the obligatory T.O. apologist to show up in this thread and attempt to rationalize away how T.O. was "actually correct in what he said" or that the media is "baiting" him, etc...
somehow. .. I suspect this suspension will last . . . i dunno .. two weeks I wonder will his laywer appeal the suspension stating he got suspended for actually for being too hurt to play rather than his comments. .. . Hate all you want. . . .He trying to maximize profits nothing ventured. . nothing gained. . . he is being as true capitalist not the most educated of risks. . . but a risk Rocket River
I don't really see why what he did is all that bad 1. He's mad about having a career milestone not being recognized. I'm sure a lot of people would be pissed about this. 2. He was responding to Irvin's comments that if they had Favre instead, they would have a better record. He's a cancer because he agrees with him? I mean, yeah the PC thing would be to say "Oh no McNabb is greayt, blah blah" - but that's not TO. He spoke his mind, and I actually agree with him. What's so bad about this?
It's bad because he is TO. I guess it would be better if he were a woman beater or were put on trial for murder like some other NFL players.
I can't believe you guys are so down on TO ~ some no name reporter asks him a bunch of loaded questions (who wouldn't want Favre to be their QB - this is from Irvin anyway) and TO gives polite answers with a smile. The Eagles have made a terrible mistake -- FREE THE TO
You're kidding right? 1. Personal milestone, who cares? I cannot remember the last time a team celebrated a personal milestone. Hell, I don't even recall Indianapolis doing anything for Manning and Harrison when they became the league's most prolific pass and receive duo of all time a few weeks ago. The Eagles probably flashed it on the big screen, the anouncers probably announced it in the stadium, and all the broadcasters were talking about it. T.O. just wants a reason to b**** about something. He also took jabs at the organization caling them classless. 2. It wasn't responding to Irvin's comments that got T.O. in trouble, it is what he added to them. He said Favre was a warrior who has played with injuries. He also stated that Favre knows or has a greater knowledge of the quarterback position. These were direct insults to the organization's franchise player and star Donovan McNabb. McNabb is playing through injuries and isn't doing too bad of a job despite what people say. He has led the Eagles to 5 straight NFC East Division titles, 4 straight NFC title games, 1 NFC Championship, and to a Super Bowl and most of the time he has been without T.O. I am not saying he is the greatest QB in the game but he is definitely up there and I don't care what anybody says he is WAY above Michael Vick. What I find funny is the fact that you actually agree with him. I don't doubt the Eagles wouldn't have a better record with Favre but I think any record that he could provide, a HEALTHY McNabb could also duplicate. The problem with the Eagles isn't that they have poor play at the quarterback position, it's that they have become one dimensional passing more than 70% of times in most games. When a team becomes one dimensional they fall right into the opponent's hands as we saw when they played the Broncos last week.
