Trade him to the Lakers for Javale McGee so he can go to the Lakers and shoot 50 percent from 3 and become 6th man of the year again lol
this is inevitably going to happen. Wherever he is next year, it will be better than this season. Ibaka at MLE, Nerlens Noel at an exception or Bobby Portis at minimum, would probably be better than dumping Eric right now. His value is probably as low as it will ever be.
I would really like Lamarcus Aldridge to be honest. I’ve heard the Spurs are possibly wanting to move on from him and Demar. A rebuild situation. If that’s not the case, we can use a floor spacing big. So someone like Al Horford would be a great fit here. Yes he is older but James and Westbrook are up there as well. The “title window” isn’t that big. If we can move EG and House for Aldridge or Horford, I’d be totally fine with either of those. Or if the Rockets just move EG for some cap space that would be fine as well. Then they could sign any of the following: Markieff Morris Joe Harris Christian Wood Jerami Grant Bogdan Bogdanovic Marco Belinelli Jamychal Green Serge Ibaka Trez
Who do we want? Lol, this thread makes it sound like we actually got options. The real question is who will be dumb enough to trade anything even close to valuable for him? this is what we would have on the trade block... a guy who is turning 32 in December that missed 36 games, averaged 14, 2, and 2 on 37/32/76 shooting splits in the regular season, and 17, 3, and 3 on 41/32/88 shooting splits in the playoffs SCRUB Did I mention he’s owed 18.2, 19.6, and 21 mil the next 3 seasons? Eric Gordon is the equivalent of a moldy bologna and mayo sandwich somebody left in the parking lot of an abandoned strip mall...the only thing I’m offering for that is a trash can the one time Tilman opens up his wallet, it’s to hand this dude an albatross deal...u absolutely HATE to see it
u got Orlando taking the 2 worst assets in the deal by far...u even got them throwing in Isaac lol this is a fleecing
A fun trade to Detroit not for Christian Wood but Derrick Rose. That way you block his reunion with Lebron. 3 MVPs.
Horford makes the most sense. Not really the greatest choice, but would be nice to have a big man that can shoot the ball, play defense and set up on the high post to create plays for others. Horford doesn't have particularly high value nor does Gordon and switching both of them out for both teams would balance the lines ups for each team. I'm not feeling his contract, nor his age, but considering this will be Harden's last hurrah so to speak, we better take some crazy risks to get another team built around him. For the very least, Horford would allow us to play Westbrook. Considering that Rockets would in theory be taking on more salary getting Horford, you may even have the luxury of asking for a 2nd round pick. It would be nice to have a 2nd round pick for once lol.
Shiiiiieeeet if Orlando took that then they really do have issues. I was just expecting a half baggy of coke and a hooker with STD's that you'd normally wouldn't touch... EG gets you the used half baggy of course...
It actually makes a lot of sense, both guys have similar bad contracts. Philly has an excess of length and needs some help on the perimeter . We need a reliable big that can shoot. Not sure if it moves the meter for either team, but it makes sense. Morey could use the salary differential to make something else happen. Having said that, we know brokeass will want no part of going over the tax.
It really is going to depend on who the next coach is and whether Tilman is going to use the MLE. The question isn’t what Gordon gave you in the playoffs coming off an injury, it is what do you think he gives you next year. Does he go back to being a 37-38% three point shooter? Then if you decide to trade Gordon, who are you going to add to replace him as a 3rd creator and penetrator. This is why who the coach matters so much. If you get someone that really stresses defense, and Tilman will use the MLE, then maybe you go all in on defense and just count on Harden and Westbrook to score enough. Trade Gordon for Horford and then sign Kris Dunn as your third guard. The defense would almost be guaranteed to be in the top 5 and possibly better. However the spacing would suffer and the Rockets would be relying on penetration from Dunn. There are a number of ways you can go and it depends on what the Rockets do. We know they will not deviate too much offensively but they may change what they prioritize. Dunn/Nwaba/Covington/Tucker/Horford are all exceptional defenders in that scenario. I am not saying that is what the Rockets would or should do, but only to illustrate that the Rockets at this point don’t know what they will do with Gordon. FWIW I would likely do a Gordon for Horford trade. Horford is a strong defender that can pass and shoot 3’s well. He isn’t much of a trailer for Harden but he has the rest of what the Rockets need. Horford also will let Tucker rest more and let Covington get some more minutes at the 3. A rotation of Horford, Tucker, Covington and House at the 4-5 is strong.
