yup. kobe was here in the philippines a few days ago,the first stop in his asian tour promoting a limited edition shoe.For asia only ofcourse. he was intervied by BTV philippines "BASKETBALL TV" in a segment called 24secs. When asked who plays the best D against him,he answered w/out even thinking.,.,BATTIER. nice of kobe giving shane credit.Unlike ron-ron he still claims to this day that no one can guard him.

Shane being voted to the Defensive 2nd teams still bugs me. I guess the NBA still goes by "who you are" and not what you've actually done 'cuz clearly Shane is a 1st team defender.
Shane is awesome. He should be a Rocket for the remainder of his career, although this isn't a popular opinion in this forum.
That's too bad... he's not cocky... would you like it when the media started to stay that you can be guarded by someone and get shut down by a defender? It's about ego in the NBA... if you don't have that killer mentality... you won't win ****.... and obviously Kobe has said it many times.. no ONE person can stop him... it would have to be a team effort. If he was cocky... he would be doing it every time against Shane or whoever guarded him... it was basically one game... the game after game 1 where the media started to question the Lakers because they didn't show up and most importantly Kobe didn't show up for whatever reason. I agree with Kobe though, no one single player can stop Kobe... it would have to be a 5 man effort....
i'm surprised he didn't say vince carter (and i'm serious). kobe has had TERRIBLE games v. the nets the past 2-3 years w/ vince guarding him mostly.
I'm not surprised. Shane Battier is one of the best overall defender in the league. I was still astonished in the playoff on how he guarded Kobe Bryant. Near perfection every play.
not only Shane do good defensively on Kobe but he did a very classy offensive statement on Kobe's antics exposing Kobe's dark side so to speak. "I wasn't raised that way...." -Shane on Kobe's trash talking... Good job Shane.
i'm not disagreeing with kobe b/c shane is arguably a top 2 defender in this league. but i've seen kobe's games v. the nets. they were always UGLY. last year: 13 pts, 27%fg 07-08: 18.5pts, 29% fg 06-07: 20pts, 32%fg and i watched these games w/ laker fans, and they praised vince saying i've never seen kobe defended that well EVERY TIME. who would have thought vince would be praised like that haha
Some of you fools are acting like Kobe always trash talks.. he rarely does it... and I think it was just that one game... blown way out of proportion... Kobe isn't a Garnett.
