I prefer Erik Dampier, because he was an INTIMADATING PRESENCE AND STRONG to attack. Dampier will start when Yao is out on back to backs. Ron Artest was also another strong, scary presence on the team. Id love to see Yao and Dampeir play together. Beasts!!!!!! We are getting bigger! This means Jefferies, Hayes, and/or Patterson, Miller and others can be let go.... which means HELLO CARMELO ANTHONY!!! Getting an old guy like Dampier means WE WANT TO WIN NOW!.... LETS GET PAST THESE 2 BAD LOSES, AND START A HUGE WIN STEAK! RED RISING BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point i this system I think Brad Miller will look better with both players on the team because people love offense but defensively Dampier. So whatever you like more offense or defense. I don't know is i'm takng Dampier's offense over Brad Miller's defense both are pretty turrible.
Kind of pisses me off that we paid Miller all that money and we have to sign another guy to to make up for his lack of defense. I would have preferred to sign Shaq than have this dynamic duo.
i understand your point but i think miller is much better in this system, hell he knows it like the back of his hand.
Interesting note: Dampier is a legit 7'0, in Draftexpress they have his pre-draft measurements and he measured at 6'11 without shoes making him clearly 7'0+ in shoes... --RB
Miller. He knows the system and isn't a quitter. Damp is a better defender when he puts his mind to it,but he is lazy.
Dampier can actually attempt to block some shot. Miller is much better running Adelman's offense though.
Miller is much better but Dampier is what we need. We need a monster in this team we're too freakin gentle.
You would think that all this either offensive or defensively minded players on the Rockets roster would give Adelman the flexibility to mix and match according to matchups, but he seems to have a set rotation and substitution pattern that ignores matchups. I hope Adelman uses all of our versatility to its full potential, if he isn't already and I'm just not seeing something. Both/Offense/Defense (Yao's our only two-way player) Yao/Miller/Dampier ...../Scola/Hayes ...../Budinger/Battier ...../Martin/Lee ...../Brooks/Lowry Imagine: Against the Lakers Yao/Dampier (Gasol's their backup C?) Scola/Hayes Battier/Bud Martin/Lee Brooks/Lowry Against the Warriors: Yao/Dampier (Brad Miller not a good matchup against Warriors) Scola/Hayes Lee (for Monta)/Budinger Martin/JT hopefully, or Battier Lowry/Brooks Basically, when we need offense or if the opposing center isn't good on offense, we use Miller instead of Dampier. If we need D, then we use Damp. Lee will be our lockdown wing defender against smaller guys and Battier against bigger guys. Lowry might play more when we need more defense from the PG position and can get enough offense from C or wings. Budinger would play more, except every team has at least one good wing scorer, so Battier or Lee needs to be on the floor with Martin, who is too good on offense not to play, so Budinger's role will still be relatively limited. Yao (when he plays), Scola (because Hill/PPat are not in the rotation, and Hayes is still too limited on O, Hayes will only play when we have enough O at the rest of the spots and we're playing a stud PF), and Martin are pretty much mainstays in the rotation.
I actually said in the offseason that I'd prefer Dampier over Miller. I like Miller, but I think we overpaid for him. I have no problems whatsoever with Dampier as a backup C.
