what "next 10" would be your list?

    mine in no order...
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Jason Kidd
    Dwyane Wade
    Kobe Bryant
    Kevin Garnett
    Tracy McGrady
    Lebron James
    Tim Duncan
    Dirk Nowitzki
    Allen Iverson

does this mean that there will soon be an "NBA top 60?" or are 10 guys getting kicked out?

I'd take out jermaine and throw in either Nash or Paul(obligatory shock inclusion).

tracy and garnett better pay attention to what happened to dominique wilkins. not saying its fair, because it isn't but both guys better start to get some playoff series under their belts to solidify their spot.

I think they're just adding 10 guys, it would be wrong to kick out 10 of the other players already on the top 50.

Out of of JBII's list I would take out Wade and put in Payton, take out Jermaine O'neal and put in Zo, I would take out Lebron and put in Carter, and I would think about taking out KG for Mutombo.

You also can't forget Reggie Miller or Ben Wallace, Steve Nash too, actually I would think about taking out Dirk in favor of Ben Wallace, and Vince in favor of Reggie Miller. Not easy narrowing it down to 10, and what about the snubs off the first list? Dominique?

    Very true.

Oh yeah Dominique, man that was so wrong. I couldn't believe that-could they just have forgotten him? Or was he simply not included?

Its funny how everyone (in other threads also) has forgotten Amare. He is at least as deserving as Wade for example.

Does it have to be active players or something?
If you're taking the best ten guys of all time not already on the top 50 list then that would change it a little.

Mutombo over Kevin Garnett? Mutombo in his prime wasn't even close to Garnett. I don't dont see how an argument can be made here.

I do like your Gary Payton suggestion though. I went with wade and Lebron because you just know these two are going to be studs in the future. Kind of like when Shaq was included in the top 50, he was only 4 years into his career but everyone knew he would be great for a while.

What about Ben Wallace over Garnett? I say Mutombo because of his accomplishments as a defensive center, multiple DPoY awards, there was the time his Nuggets knocked the Sonics out of the playoffs, reached the finals a couple of times. I just said think about it anyway...

It's Kenny Smith and Charles Barkely though, I would think they would give preference to the older guys first, we'll see.

ben wallace is not one of the top 60 players in nba history and is not one of the ten best not on the list. he's not even in the top 10 in the nba right now. steve nash did not do enough early in his career to make the list and zo just does not have the body of work to make it. and mutombo definitely doesn't.

i would pretty much take JBII's list and replace jermaine with amare (assuming this injury isn't a career crusher). jermaine, despite pretty nice stats, just has never struck me as enough of a difference maker to make a list like this.

as far as tmac and kg vs dominique, maybe i'm too much in the moment right now, but i can't see it happening to them. if nothing i would say both are known for enough all around game (especially kg) that they won't just be thought of as scorers like i think the general perception of nique is (wrong or right). another thing, how often was wilkins thought of as a top 5 player in the league? i can't say, but tmac and kg have been put in the top 5 for quite a long time and still have considerable time left in their careers. but i suppose it could happen to them if the tide turns against them.

cant make a list of 10 probably but ill put in a few locks.

    Kobe
    AI
    tim duncan
    jason kidd
    gary payton

i think you Have to include those 5 players

    will be one day:

    tracy mcgrady
    kevin garnett
    lebron games

and just for fun i hope yao ming can keep improving and be able to be considered with these type of talents but im not sure that will happen. his stats are not quite up there, one reason being becuase of the type of offense that van gundy runs.

I said think about it... He does have a championship you know, and I do believe he was the MVP of that team, Billups is the MVP of the current offense first Pistons, lets see if they win another ring that way.

Robert Horry has 5 rings. What's your point?

Ben Wallace was a scrub in the league for AT LEAST 3 years.

Dirk has been a star throughout his career.

So in his two complete seasons in the NBA, neither of which led to a playoff appearance, lebron has done more than TMac? The same TMac who carried Orlando to the playoffs four (?) seasons in a row and led the league in scoring twice?
And to call richardson, arenas, paul, bosh, or howard great players is ridiculous. Chris Paul will be there soon, but can we at least wait until he's played 60 NBA games? And Jason Richardson has never even been great enough to help his team to 40 wins.

I agree with those who have said that Payton, Kidd, Duncan, KG, Kobe and Iveson have to be locks.
