Franchise2001's thread about Di, Bulldog and The Bushes got me to thinking about my own family relations. My family history has me linked to Daniel Boone, Tennessee Williams, and Shirley Temple. Any noteworthy ones in your lineage?
Robert the Bruce and dont think Braveheart was a realistic movie Robert the Bruce was actually a cool guy and is loved by Scots
Guess what, we're related! My Grandpa has even shared with me the complete tracing from Boone to my family.
This may sound stooopid, but how do you use that site?? Do you have to pay, or can you find out all that stuff from the guest registration?
Geneology is a waste of time. Any "findings" are really suspect, because records were such crap before this century. Know why most people get linked to high-profile historical people? Because they were some of the few people to actually have records of some sort.
Daniel Boone X lives here. He is an associate of a friend of mine. I need to meet him. He has been trying to have a son to carry on the name. He has 4 daughters... no kidding! How about Danielle?
In the movie Robert the Bruce wound up regretting his stand against Wallace and ended up fighting on the side of Wallace's followers. Was this historically true?
Mia Wallace: Are you any relation to Suzanne Vega? Vincent Vega: Yeah, she's my cousin. Mia Wallace: Suzanne Vega the folk singer is your cousin? Vincent Vega: Suzanne Vega's my cousin. If she's become a folk singer, I sure as hell don't know nothin' about it. But then I haven't been to too many Thanksgivings lately.
I love researching my genealogy. my grandpa found a book of records linking me back to Johann Heinrich Rommell of Germany(ancestor of the "Desert Fox"). it is quite accurate, as far as I am concerned. the records date back to 1724, when a ship came to the Louisiana coast from Germany. That was the beginning of my family in USA. They stayed in Louisiana until I was 3 years old! the records are as accurate as can be.
I've got a little book put together. It has my scottish clan name, and all the different septs of the clan and a major events timeline. Cool stuff. I'm related to Randy McCown, QB from A&M, Josh McCown, QB from Sam Houston, and that McCown quarterback at Louisiana Tech. Haha.
Jefferson Davis - president of the confederacy -- not overly proud of that one, but admittedly haven't read a ton on the guy whoever founded Welch's jelly Ed McMahon -- yes! you are correct, sir!
I've always heard the family can trace direct relation to Betsy Ross but I've never actually seen the paper work to back it up. I do know my I'm a descendant of Capt. John Barker who captained a ship from England to America in 1635.
John Wesley Hardin, the Law West ofthe Pecos! The first of my family to show up on these shores came to Virginia in the early 1630's. Somewhere there's a document saying he sold "horses and slaves." So I got all kinds of good ancestral karma going for me.
My cousin is Jim Nash. He was a correspondent for CNN and now works for the WB network in LA as a news reporter. I know someone in here that has ALL of us beat, though.
John Ritter is my 4th cousin by marriage. Direct decendant of the Harrison presidents. My cousin is a wookie. just seein' if you were payin' attention
I'm curious about this one. I am a direct descendant of Robert Gould Shaw, the commanding officer of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment of the Union Army, which was the first black regular army regiment in the Civil War. He was killed when he lead the assault on Fort Wagner to capture the Confederate city of Charleston, South Carolina. The movie "Glory" was about him and the 54th. That's about the only famous person that I know of, but I can prove the lineage to become both a Son of Confederate Veterans and a Son of Union Veterans, a Son of the American Revolution, and a Son of the Mayflower. I am also a direct descendant of the founders of Harvard University. This is an interesting thread....
