This thread will most likely get moved to the NBA Draft and College section, but the players that most people are eyeing are:

    Drew Gooden
    Jason Williams
    Mike Dunleavy Jr.
    DeJuan Wagner
    Marcus Haslip
    Jared Jefferies
    Chris Marcus
    Kareem Rush
    Caron Butler
    Melvin Ely
    Qyntel Woods

Just to name a few, although some of those guys will not come out this year, nor have any underclassmen declared (they can't officially declare for another two months).

Gooden and Wagner are men among boys. If the Rockets land Gooden in the draft and maybe land a 3 in the offseason (Odom or Lewis) then we could easily win 50 to 53games. Just imagine Eddie and Gooden in the same frontcourt.

I remember posting something about getting Gooden and putting him in the frontcourt with Eddie Griffin, and getting blasted for it because people were saying they were essentially the same player. Hell I'll take two players of that caliber. But I'm glad to see someone else warming up to the idea.

I gotta say that I am not all that sold on Yao Ming, not because he is a foreigner, but because I can't see him firsthand. If I could watch him like I can Gooden, Wagner, Williams, Dunleavy, etc., it would be easier for me to judge. However if the Rockets' scouts see something in him I say go for it.

I know we get Toronto's first rounder this year in addition to ours...

So we have 2 first round picks this year? If toronto goes lottery, we get that pick too?

If Toronto does not make the playoffs, and thus are in the lottery, the Rockets do not get their first round pick this year, the pick is lottery protected. I think I'd be okay with that because Memphis may get our pick next year.
