Who was Rudy T referring to? "we have non-believers all the way, I have one thing to say to those non-believers.." <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5-1jgNhopNo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5-1jgNhopNo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
umm, probably those who didnt believe ? I think you're making too much of this. If you overthink it then you may pick one of those options, but it's really everyone and anyone who didnt believe. There's always some in every group and with every team on any given year.
Are you asking if these non believers don't believe Houston should have won? Or are you asking if they don't believe they would have beat MJ and his bulls? I think you're really asking the second question, but people will assume you mean the first. Either way, i'm sure there were believers and non-believers then and today. That's why the question is still asked and discussed.
Hmm, so I'm guessing the non-believers felt the Rockets couldn't win a championship with that team in 95. they believed Hakeem probably couldn't handle David Robinson or Shaq. they believed no way a team with Robert Horry at Power Forward jacking up 3 pointers could handle Power Forward greats like Barkley, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman, even Horrace Grant a 3 time champion they believed no way a backcourt of Kenny Smith/Sam Cassell could handle Kevin Johnson, John Stockton, or even Penny "the next Magic Johnson" Hardaway they believed no way Clyde Drexler could make an impact. but if you make overcome such obstacles, wouldn't that make you a believer if you had witnessed all of this?
but choke city was 94, why didn't he mention it in 95? why aren't there non believers for the Lakers or Detroit or Celtics?
It's Ironic that the legendary quote,"never underestimate the heart of a champion", up to this day, is still being uttered by every national member of the media and nba "analysts". I love that quote, and it was directed to them, the doubters.
thank goodness we got some 'believers' in the media now. 1. one of them made us believe 2. the other one witnessed first hand
Well for one you're being too specific here. I dont think it was about individual matchups, especially dream vs drob. Rob was MVP, but Dream wasn't exactly a role player. Smith and Cassell were also pretty solid. I think it's more general, as in the team as whole couldnt or shouldnt have won. And after witnessing it all it wouldnt necessarily make you a believer. Now it's facts and not guesses, so a non-believer has to acknowledge it happened and it's possible, but it doesnt mean they still believe it should have happened. It's just personal opinion really. I can't really blame them. The team did overcome a lot of obstacles and their run was unlikely and rare. In the end though it all in the record books now, so that's allt hat matters. I'm sure there are, you don't hear a lot because neither of them were the 6th seed. LA was arguably the best team this year. The celtics were doubted early on until they stepped it up as the playoffs went along. It's not really as complicated as you're making it.
Rudy : "in the future, Rockets fans will be whiny and expect the media to love them even though they have all stars who can't even play a full season, they also whine everytime Charles Barkley says something" Vernon: "they sound like a bunch of p****"
It was mainly directed the media and sports critics (who also makeup a good proportion of "there was no MJ crowd").
The Rockets were the 6th seed for many reasons. the Main one was Olajuwon being out for a long period of time. The 2nd one was the trade transition for Drexler. At one point, we had no true Power Forward (Otis trade) and no Center because Dream was out. The Celtics this year had alot of injuries. they gelled at the right time.
You know, I've watch that clip at least 100 times, but I've never figured out who's the person that's going, "Yay !!! Yay!!, Yippeee!!!" That was always funny to me.
