Because it has been officially designated as the "Ronald Reagan Day of Mourning." Federal goverment offices will be shut down. No banks. No mail. No stock market. Many universities (including UT) will be shut down. So are YOU going to be at work? Naturally, my office will probably demand overtime.
Man that sucks now my lunch here is gonig to be slow, since i depend on all the office building workers to be my main patrons here in downtown. Hopefully it won't effect us too much but i guess we will see. And YES I have to work =(
My office always closes when the stock market is closed, but for some strange reason we have a full day planned. I took a vacation day instead.
DC baby, I get it off, and I live right next to the cathedral. I'll be there for the ceremony. I don't think I'm going to go to the Capitol for viewing tho'.
I work for an investment consulting firm, so we normally close when the market does. No such luck this time.
What holidays? I don't get Federal holidays off? Got a full night at the AP bureau in ATL plus a radio show (two hours, guests will include tentatively Mike Slive, SEC Comissioner, Mark Richt, head coach of Georgia and a few others my folks haven't lined up yet.) to do. My last vacation ( a few months ago when my family rented a house in the Florida Keys for almost a month) was the first one I've had since......I've been in my present line of work.
heh....day off? no thanks....if I dont work, I dont get paid....besides, it takes more than the death of an ex-president to get the petrochemical industry to shut down for a day. Ill be slugging along at work Friday...as usual.
I am SUPPOSED to be at work, but I'll be in Chi-town instead. We never get holidays off though. Its a consequence of the industry.
