I keep seeing these posts about how great the old uniforms were, but honestly, I hated those uniforms so much and I was totally excited that the Rockets were ditching them. I know the pajamas suck also, but who here actually liked the old uniforms? I don't want this to be a compare thread where you say "Well the current uniforms suck, so I like the old uniforms" or "Hey we won 2 championships with those uniforms, they were awesome!" The current uniforms suck, and the old uniforms sucked in my opinion, so who honestly liked those old uniforms before the Rockets won the championships?
The old uniforms were slightly better than the current pajamas and that idiotic logo -- I hope the third time is a charm.
Depends. Compared to what we have now they are great. But theyweren't great by any stretch. I think the main bond we have with them are the championships. The yellow needs to go. os

BGM, you really need a rep. Back in the day, the red uniforms were good, but come on... nowadays that red would be blinding. If you had asked me about 10 years ago, they'd be ok, but today? They're heinous. The Mavs know how to put some uniforms together...
Those red and gold things were the worst! When they were red and gold, the Astros had orange and the Oilers were columbia blue, that may have been the worst color combination for one city's sports teams in the history of mankind! Awful. I like the use of red - they are the Rockets afterall - but the gold was just hideous.
A .Rockets uniform should be red, of course. I didn't like the yellow, though. I wasn't so hot on the basketball logo, either. I did like the diagonal Rockets lettering on the warmups and jerseys. Simple sang-froid. Less is more. Now, I'm not sure if Rockets red should be orangie-red or blood-red, bulls red. I would think something more tinged with yellow. Not pink, even for the dynamic duo. What does a "rocket's red glare" look like anyway, on a pantone chart? We could look at nineteenth century paintings for cues, I guess. I'm at a loss for the complementary color, though. White seems pretty safe for home jersey. Red white and blue is over the top, Red and black I like, bulls be damned. Silver is kind of Rocket-y. Silver piping or an interweave could be cool. No pinstripes, please. I'd go with a Red w/silver interweave cool-max micro-poly, slightly shiney jersey and short, with tone on tone (darker) v neck, sleeve, and hem accents. A slightly assemetrical v front and square neck back could be cool. I'd take the throwback diagonal "Rockets" lettering with the futuristic materials for the whole package. I'd drop some black on the warm ups - maybe a side "sport" stripe, or a broad center band on the jacket. Just a start. p
Hell I loved the red and gold. I want those old unis back with an updated variation of the old logo. I admit it: I want the old colors back. I hate that blue crap we have now, and our current logo is hideous.
I love the current ones and everyday the old ones grow on me more... A hybrid of the two wouldn't look too bad. Have it almost exactly like the above pic except make the lettering even and italicized like the old ones. Maybe replace the silver scheme with gold on the lettering... And KEEP THE CURRENT LOGO. It doesn't need to be on the jerseys, but it's still the best one in all of professional sports.
The current spaceship with teeth logo is childish bordering on moronic. The old logo was dull but professional. I'd like to return to the incredible red but with some style. The yellow was, well, too yellow. I like the style of the jersey shown in the pix posted by Severe Rockets Fan. But I hope the Rocks work on a new logo. The Wolves have an interesting, professional one. Why can't we?
I hated the old ones, was just excited to get new gear/logo etc, then we get handed the w****-clowns on crack -disney design-5 year plan!!! WTF!
We need to really get rid of the FONT the Rockets use on their jerseys and logos. It looks cartoonish/childish
My main concern is that I can walk around wearing a Rockets baseball cap without being embarassed or looking like a gangster teenager.
honestly..this is sooooo true for me, too!!! I don't know about the gangster teenager, but I feel like a little kid anytime I have the snarling Rocket on...just looks so damn silly!!! I still have my red fitted hat with old Rockets logo...I wear it. and my astros and texans hats of course, both of which have classic, understated designs.
that jersey severe rockets fan posted is perfect, imo. it's simple and has a nice color scheme. the lettering is also really nice, except i might even put houston instead of rockets.
Classic and understated? You do realize you are saying you don't look grown up enough in your BASEBALL CAP, right? Classic and understated is for dress slacks. These are jerseys for Pete sake!!!
Max and Dr Robert, That is why I avoid caps, shirst and shorts with the log on it! I generally try for things that are navy (maybe with a little red) and only have the word "Rockets" on them. BGM, The old uniforms were bad, the old logo was really bad.
i'd like it if the Rockets went to more of a vintage style with the logo and colors. i like what detroit and seattle did with their uni's. a classic update. but please get rid of the current font, logo, colors...everything about the current scheme sucks.
