Is it possible that we could pull off a trade like the ones the ChiSox did tonight? 3 prospects and cash for Roberto Alomar, same deal for Carl Everett. Anyone see anything happening for the Stros?

From what I understand, our farm system isn't as stocked as it once was. If anything, we'll probably be adding a non-star starting pitcher such as Hentgen or Suppan.

Any possibility of anything like a Randy Johnson trade? I'm against it, but some people I was talking to thought that would be a good move this year.

Our farm system isn't as stocked as it was in 1998. I'm not sure there's going to be any pitchers of that caliber available anyway.

You don't think we'd give up Lane and a few pitchers like Saarloos even? I'm sure we could get something back that would be decent.

I dont think they would do that at all. If we pull a trade, it will be for a decent player to give depth to our pitching staff. It wont be anything overwhelming. We can afford for that to happen.

Lane isn't a hot prospect anymore in baseball terms. He is 27 years old, which makes him too old to be a big time prospect. I don't think the Astros can get anyone big because we don't have many prospects. Let's hope we start drafting some good players because our farm system isn't looking too good this year. And the Astros have to have a good farm system to succeed since we don't have the money to sign big free agents.
