While you were sleeping...(GSW & Yao) The Warriors were coming up with grand schemes to land Yao Ming and Kobe Bryant... ...Additionally, there are increasingly strong indications, from many sources, that the Warriors have launched a grand, multi-layered scheme that they hope and pray lands them Yao Ming after the 2005-06 season... The Warriors would be all-Kobe, all-the-time: Bryant, Mickael Pietrus, Speedy Claxton, Nick Van Exel (very tradable next season with his contract about to expire), Adonal Foyle (if he re-signs), and the Warriors' upcoming No. 1 pick. If they're smart, the Warriors also could acquire some more talent if they sign-and-trade Erick Dampier. Maybe that's not a team that wins a championship, especially in the Western Conference, but it's more daring and interesting than the one the Warriors have now. And maybe Yao would want to be a Warrior more than ever... I wonder if the Rockets were aware of this grand, multi-layered scheme. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=knight-warriorsshouldsetsightson&prov=knight&type=lgns
Show me some evidence what GSW has done to warrant this article. A Yao-Kobe combo will be lethal. They can be contenders for years to come.
Is it true that Mullin and their owner already said they will unload the ENTIRE team by Yao's contract year? WTF with everyone wanting to get into the Yao lottery II?
Golden State and Other Teams will try to pull off a Coup with Yao much like the Lakers did with the Magic in landing Shaq I have no doubt about it that teams are planning ahead to Yao's free agency. How Yao responds will be interesting. He seems to value loyalty and so I imagine, Houston having treated him so well, that he would choose to stay. But who knows? Just like Shaq getting bitten by the acting bug, so too may Yao get bitten by trolley-fever. San Francisco DOES have more Asian-Americans than Houston, by my understanding. That was one reason Yao was heavily leaning toward GS pre-draft where many thought GS would be his future home. theSAGE
On a side note, it never occurred to me before, but Troy Murphy would be absolutely fantastic for this team.
The thing that makes this story seem slightly credible is the fact that the guy covers GS pretty regularly.
This kind of comment always makes me laugh. Okay, so if San Francisco has more asian americans, what does that have to do with the price of gas? Somebody tell Jermaine O'neal that we have more african americans in Houston than they do in Indy. Somebody tell Tony Parker they teach French in elementary schools in New Orleans.
We have the policy here to lock a thread if it does not make sense. Does the Mercury news has a policy to remove an article from its site if it is stupid?
