What year will the Rockets make a huge playoff run? I'm guessing 2002, when we get a huge free agent. ------------------ The best is yet to come. Go Rockets!
My best guess would be the 2002-03 season, as I doubt we can lure a Webber next summer. By that time, our core will be entering it's prime, we will have had time to work a trade or two, etc. I think possibly in 2001-02 we can be a 3 or 4 seed, but I think we're probably going to make a title run around the 2002-03 season. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? We won't get a huge free agent, but here is how I see things going: '01 --8th seed, first round loss in 5 games '02 --6th seed, first round upset in 4, secon round loss in 6 '03 --3rd seed, first round win in 4, second round win in 7, loss in Conference Finals in 5 '04 --3rd seed, make the Finals but lose '05 --the guys hit their prime, we win it all ------------------
Next year, and here's why: Dream comes back and puts up great numbers in his final season. MoTay wins comeback player of the year (anybody who escapes from clipperland and lives to tell about it deserves this award) Mobley wins 6th man of the year award (almost won it last year) Francis wins MVP in regular season as well as the Finals. Langhi wins Rookie of the Year award. Shandon wins Rockets MVP award. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
bob no comment. but has anyone considered that stevie franchise might bolt. i consider steve a good person who would be loyal but washington has to look pretty good. hometown, mjs the president theyre trying to make a youth movement howard is supposedly ready for a comeback. i would probably start crying if he left. I hope he comes back!!!!
Well, considering Steve would be a restricted FA and we could match Washington's offer, it shouldn't be a huge problem. Also, based on Mobley signing for 6 years and Steve's recent comments in Sports Illustrated saying he'd like to accept a lifetime contract from the Rockets, I don't think he'll be leaving. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? NewGuy says it all..... Sonics deteriorate, and Celtics have overhaul after next season.....major events.... ------------------
Oh yeah and I forgot Cato. He wins Defensive Player of the Year award ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
how the hell can ANDERSON be team MVP and Steve be League MVP???? ------------------ "And Raul missess the Penalty in the 89th minute of the Euro2000 and Spain is sadend again" by Spanish Fan
Bob*: There is no Comeback Player, that's baseball The Most Improved Player in the NBA is similar though ------------------
BobFinn*, Let me save you on the Shandon problem - Shandon Anderson unanimous NBA All-Defensive 1st Team and is 2nd in the league in steals (only to Eddie Jones). ------------------ GATER
since we're having so much fun, how about we CREATE awards? Bryce Drew--IR player of the year Cato--only man to stop Shaq award u think that would help us? especially the first one? ------------------
Actually, I'm with Finn on this one. I believe we will go all the way to the Western Finals this next year, because Dream with all his pride will go out like a champion. He'll take us as far as our talent can get us. I don't think we'll get past LA or Portland, though, purely because of the lack of players. But I think we'll be pretty exciting this year. Francis and Mobely were commiserating on how they wanted to be in the championship hunt when they went to the Comets playoff games, and I think they will. I expect Taylor to do really well, too, Anderson will come into his own, Williams will get in a groove, Mobely will show why we wanted him so bad. I don't know about Cato. It will be an incredible offensive team. The chemistry will be excellent. They will scare everyone in the playoffs. I think we'll want to sign Dream to another contract with the hope we went all the way next year, but I think if we make it to the Western Finals, Dream will consider that enough to retire, and that will be the end of that stretch. Remember when we went a long way into the playoffs when Dream first came here, but then it was a few years before we got back to win it all. I think it will be like that with Francis. We'll go a long way this year, but then Dream will be gone, we'll draft a great center in this year's draft, redevelop the chemistry and then get back to the finals in 3 or 4 years. I expect us to stay awhile after that. Maybe 4 or 5 years. Its going to be fun. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
Eddie Curry.... if we get him next year, we'll be the number one dynasty ever in the NBA....... ------------------
Olajuwon Webber Taylor Anderson Francis - This lineup would have scared the hell out of me in 1997 well I think the Rocks will return to the playoffs in maybe 2,3 years , We sure rebuilt better than the Bulls , Im not sure when the Rockets will win the Title again for some time (Maybe when Kobe Bryant retires and then unreties 18 months later Then we will get no respect and no credit for it) ------------------ Grammar Police Cheif says 1.) feel free to post but spell check all your lettering 2.)Cyber-talk is not funny , please put parentheses stating what the abbreviation means , i.e. LOL(laughing out loud) 3.)Spelling and Grammar are fun , just ask all the people at Schoolhouse rock
LOL then you're definately right, it will take time to get to the playoffs after hakeem ertires....It's not easy looking for a center after he retires again!!!! ------------------
I like your thinking BobFinn! Rockets all the way in 2000-2001! Seriously I'll go with 2004. 2003 if the Rockets get someone like Curry in next year's draft. You got any specific names in mind? There is one name that stands out.... ------------------
The first name that popped into my mind when it comes to 2002 FAs is Vince Carter. Of course the Rockets' chances of signing him are pretty much zero. However I just looked at bskball.com's list of 2002 FAs and I noticed that Antawn Jamison is a FA then. So is Rashard Lewis, unless he exercises his option for a third year. In any case it's too early to give serious thought towards the '02 FA class. ------------------
CH....unfortunately I think we have zero chance of adding any superstar-like player from here on out...including no Eddy Curry...Rudy will push this team into the playoffs this season and highly doubt we will be able to trade up in the draft better than the 7th/8th pick. Mo will get something close to the MAX and w/ Shandon resigning all the caproom will be gone for several years to come. Our best chance of getting to the finals is Stevie developing into an obsessed do-it-all will-not-lose player in the playoffs and I don't see that happening until he's at least lost there a few times first- ------------------
