Regardless of who starts I think the real question is who finishes games out of the wings.

Ariza- promised a bigger role to come here, expand as a player.. and averages the most minutes on the team... how will he handle a reduced role?

Battier- Adelmans veteran leader, teams voice on defense, spreads the floor and brings the intangibles that help win games, been here from the start and has always finished whether next to tracy, artest, or Ariza.

Martin- most likely fits Adelmans system the best, and would take pressure off Scola and Brooks offensively so teams can't just key in on them, but has guys that have been here ahead of him.

Martin will be finishing, but we have a log jam now at the wing position.

One of Shane or Trevor should have been traded......because CBud needs to play more than either of them.

    Depends on where he's at...
@ Hooters you gotta start with the breaded and end with the spicy
@ BW3's you start with the BBQ and end with the garlic parmesan

We all know that Adelman will finish with whoever is playing well. With that being said, he seems to like letting Ariza play a lot, so I'd say Battier is the odd man out. He's probably conscious of the fact that it's very possible we could trade Battier in the next year.

    Isn't that the truth!!
Battier in his waning years, one good game in ten.
Ariza- full of potential, young enough to develop. :p

Tch. I said Martin because I thought the question was "Which wings will Adelman finish with?" It's not a good idea to flip the question on the poll. :p

My real answer would be Battier is the odd man out.

Do you know of a pending trade involving either of them? It takes two teams to trade.

Right, but first: it's a rumor. Second: the Suns are hiding something about Stoudemire's health.

Good question.....even when Chase has the hot hands he is always subbed out for Shane/Ariza, even though he had been playing decent-to-solid man defense.

why not all three? Battier can play some minutes at the four against some teams.

    Depends on the match-up.

But on most nights, barring a stud wing on the opposing team, Battier will be riding the pine.

This is what Rick would say if you asked him that question.
Rick: "I will play whichever 5 players I think gives us the best opportunity to win"

He will probably go with whoever is having the better game thus-far.

I can foresee a lot of Scola/Battier/Ariza/Martin/Brooks finishing games.

Because you need dependable defense when the game is on the line. Chase might play decent man defense at times, he is not dependable, at least not in the coach's mind yet.

Solid defense is not just how well you guard your man, but also how well you play team defense. Knowing when to leave your man, when to switch, when to rotate is as important as locking down your own man. That's why Battier and Hayes are so valuable at the defensive end. Those guys seldom make mental mistakes on defense.

Log jam at power forward replaced with log jam at wing.

    Thats good though, right?

Shane can actually play the 4. I wouldnt be surprised to see a line up of...

    Brooks
    Martin
    Ariza
    Battier
    Scola

    in crunch time.

That would be a SICK lineup!!! Although, we'd lack some a little height and strength... on a positive note, this lineup has "fast break, instant offense" written all over it... (Sorry Hayes, you're no landry.)

OP is referring to the 4th quarter.

Budinger sucks at defense right now since he's a rookie.
