With Adelman already having a set rotation and likes to stick with it around 9, theirs no openings for the incoming players that would be coming back if Mcgrady was traded.

Unless someone like bud, hayes, battier lose their role.

Which is why I think atleast one of the rotational players might be involved in the trade.

Who do you think Rockets will consider the most expendable?

i hate to say this, as much as i like hayes, he's a 6'6 center with no offense. i understand he plays smart, great d, built like a tank, but i'd rather have a 7'6 yao or anyone 7 feet with game on both sides of the court. no, DA doesn't count. if only he could play d like hayes.

the young guys we need to keep around, ariza has been a disappointment, but he's only been here for not even a half of a season, maybe he'll stop shooting so much and play better.

I don't think they would consider chuck, we need as much big bodies as possible if were planning on going to the playoffs, and chuck's one of the best post defenders in the league Morey really values that.

Out of that list, he, Battier and Scola may be the only ones who've already maxed out their potential.

i think budinger goes for the right deal/player.....i know he's well liked and people hope he'll reach his potential here...but realistically speaking, we may need to hand over a young talent to get the guy we really want. Landry and brooks have pretty much proven what they can do, which is one reason to keep them over bud, the secodn reason being budinger's potential may not be as high as those two's, so keep the sure studs, send out the other one.

and i asked this is another thread, but if scola is traded, can't we just re-sign him this off season? Maybe morey sends off scola, knowing scola is a pro's pro, won't hold a grudge AND still would want to be back?

I also think it would be budinger, considering you would have butler, Iggy or most likely a wing coming back, and he's one of the players teams would want due to his youth and small contract.

Hayes will be very important for us even when Yao comes back. We definitely need that player off the bench that could defend their best post player. I'd like to see him play the role he played last year, that is, end of game sub for Yao defensively against mobile bigs. I hate to say it, but Landry is the most expendable and the player who will net us the best player in return. He will likely get way less touches next year with Yao back, but I'd hate to see him go. Regardless he is an impact player and the Scolandry combo is working fantastic.

What about Andersen? Can't we trade that guy?

Wow, when you look at the list, it seems like no one is expendable.

I think Shane has to stay. He wins games for us.

So, if I had to, David Andersen....or unfortunately Chuck Hayes. His defense is awesome, but his offensive deficits are a continual problem.

We're having difficulty scoring. If we weren't, Chuck Hayes wouldn't be on the list.

I think a young talent would be most likely moved with Tmac's expiring over an aging veteran like Battier. I don't think we'll trade Brooks or Landry.

Teams will probably want Lowry or Budinger. I hope it's not Lowry that gets traded.

As much of a good guy he is, it should be Battier.

Order of preference of other teams for Rockets players:

    Landry
    Brooks
    Lowry
    Scola
    Budinger
    Battier
    Ariza
    Hayes

However, I think Budinger is the player I would feel more confortable letting go. I am not totally sure anyone would really want him... I think the only two players other teams really want are Landry and Brooks. Maybe one of the contenders would like Scola or Battier as a missing piece.

I think Ariza would be before Battier for 2 reasons.

    Age
    Contract value

    Other then that:

Contract value can be worked around to a team who is built for the short-term and a contender which i can see Battier being above Ariza in that case.

Don't think teams would have much interest in Anderson.

It has to be Battier based on the money he makes, his age and what he brings in terms of offense.

I think there are several players we could give up, depending upon the deal.

Clearly the least productive would be the easiest, but out of the rotational players.....here is whom I could see traded.

    Lowry
    Andersen
    Scola
    Battier
    Ariza
    Budinger
    Hayes

    and in a blockbuster deal

    Landry
    Brooks

Anyone could go, but I think they try to keep Landry and Brooks and would give up anyone else.

people people, the other team has to actually want the player... Chuck Hayes is way undervalued and isn't a substantial trading piece. Battier is on the decline. Ariza's contract is cheaper than Battier's and its long-term. If we're picking up a sg,sf then I would let Battier go. Some say he's the heart of our team but we haven't won a championship with him, haha
