With the dawn of the new season upon us, which rookies from this year's draft do you think would play to their potential? Also, which ones will be fan favorites? ------------------ Do not harm little children!
What exactly is the potential they must live up to? I don't think COllier will play much at all this year, and maybe next. Langhi will surprise us. I think he will be that instant offense kind of guy.....a spark off the bench for short spurts. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Hey Hoop-T, I meant the entire NBA draft, including Martin, Swift, Mihm. etc.. I personally think Martin will have problems shining in NJ. Look at Van Horn, lots of potential but.... ------------------ Do not harm little children!
I see. Sorry, misunderstood. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
lived, welcome to ClutchCity.net. FYI next time use the NBA Forum to post things like this. We use that area to talk about everything having to do with the NBA. This forum is focused on the Rockets in general. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Hey Rocketpimp, pls don't make it sound like I'm a newbie, I've been here since clutchcity was first born, it's just that I didn't post anything much.. Anyway, I expected guys here to talk more about Collier and Langhi, but I just didn't want them to leave the rest of the rookie class out of the discussion too.. ------------------ Do not harm little children!
Rookies with a great future: 1. Jamal Crawford 2. Darius Miles 3. Marcus Fizer 4. Mike Miller 5. Q. Richardson 6. Kenyon Dooling 7. Kenyon Martin 8. DerMarr Johnson 9. Etan Thomas 10. Stromile Swift Everyone else are just leftovers.
My bad. I only glanced at your number of posts and didn't see you've been around since at least March. Anyway, I agree with you about Martin possibly not shining because Van Horn and Marbury need the ball. Hopefully Martin can step in and grab the reins of that team and get Marbury and Van Horn on the same page. Personally I don't think Van Horn will be there much longer...meaning traded in the next 1 1/2 years. Other than Martin, I think Courtney Alexander and Jerome Mosio may suprise us. If Mike Miller can ever touch the ball in McGreedy's offense(it won't be Grant's team!) he might put up some interesting numbers. I also have a feeling Darius Miles bit off more than he can chew. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. I think everyone who picked before 12th in the draft will be tearing their hair out wondering how they could pass up on Courtney Alexander......If not for Finley having the same type of game exactly, then he'd be an all star in 4 years........I think Collier will be better than Langhi in 3 years.....He'll be like a croshere, but taller and grabs more rebounds...... ------------------
I'm just wondering which rookies will pan out left. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Fan Favorite: Keyon Dooling(He may not be the most talked about but I think the fans are going to love the little guys dunks) Sleeper: Dan Langhi(Still no one knows him, besides us) Etan Thomas(If Trent goes down he might have to step up and I think he can) Chris Porter(He is actually a Favorite of mine and he can do some big things in GS if only he gets a shot) Eddie House(One thing,he can score points) Deshawn Stevenson(I know he is not much of a sleeper but I think he is still underated and I think he will nag that starting 2spot by the end of the season) As for Rookie of the year I have know idea, for now I will go with the #1 pick. lived,Martin may have some trouble shining but I think a lot of the other ROY candidates will to.It seems most of the top Rooks have other stars on the team.I have said to people I thought Mihm would be a bust but right now he probably has the best chance. ------------------
The way I see it.. Fizer and Mihm will have more opportunities than the rest to shine. However, if Martin can really dominate on the boards, he will not be overshadowed by Marbury and Van Horn. He can easily slip into a Jayson Williams sorta role. I agree that we'll probably see Van Horn somewhere else? ( Van Horn for Walt Williams? ) so Martin has a really shining career ahead. I forgot.. who went to the Bulls? Chicago has a really steller lineup now, and I'll be looking for them to make a run this year perhaps. Collier can probably be the next Croshere. Play abit for the first year, get used to the NBA style. If he keeps up, look for him to have a breakthrough year next season. Langhi will probably come in as a realiable backup, but I don't see him featuring too much in games. Trade bait for the future if his stock can increase somehow... ------------------ Do not harm little children!
Desmond Mason Jason Collier everybody else will be a bust ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up.
Des mason will be a huge bargain. for a 17th pick hes really pretty good. langhi is also a bargain, as is stevenson, but i see either martin or mihm takin the rookie of the year award
