2004-2005 Rockets - David Wesley, Jon Barry, Scott Padgett, Bob Sura.. and T-Mac Yao.. the bunch that lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs (51-31 Regular Season record) (Lost 4-3 in the First round of the playoffs) 2006-2007 - Juwan Howard, Luther Head, Shane Battier, Mike James, Rafer Alston.. T-Mac Yao again.. the bunch that lost to the Utah Jazz in the 2007 NBA Playoffs (52-30 Regular Season record) (Lost 4-3 in the First round of the playoffs) 2007-2008 - Bobby Jackson, Rafer Alston, Brooks, Head, Battier, McGrady, Scola, Landry, Mutombo, Yao (only half the season).. the bunch that lost to the Utah Jazz in the 2008 NBA Playoffs (55-27 Regular Season record) (Lost 4-2 in the First round of the playoffs) 2008-2009 - Barry, Artest, Yao, Brooks, Lowry, Wafer, Landry, Scola, Battier.... the bunch that's fighting to get homecourt in the 2009 NBA Playoffs *currently 3rd seed* (so far 42-24 record) (Possible Matchups: NOH, DAL, POR, UTA, DEN in the first round) Which of those do you think is the best out of the 4? I know the 2008-2009 season isn't finished and we still haven't clinched the playoffs or homecourt.. but just vote on what you have seen so far from them...
I forgot to add.. some may ask what do you mean by the best? Well, what I mean is, which do you think had the best potential to win a chip without looking at any matchups or or anything like that...
You gotta put in consideration of the decline in some of these players. Tracy and Yao from 2004-2005 > 2008-2009, at least in terms of mobility. Battier in 2008-2009 < any other year.
i think the healthy team of last year was our best team. we were a SHUT DOWN defensive team. we were a GREAT road team. we had that SWAGGER that no team under the tmac-yao era ever had. injuries once again, sighs
That would be because of match ups favoring us and the rest of the west sucking compared to those years.
Are you seriously telling me the West was stronger in the past than it is now? Yeah, just go look at how much we are ahead of 8th seed.
If you were talking about best Rocket teams in franchise history, such options in this poll could have been 1976-77, 1985-86 (probably the best Rocket team ever put together IMO), 1993-94, and 1994-95.
I thought our 04-05 team had an attitude which we are getting back this year (ty Artest). I loved that team, the stupid antics (the 3 finger thing after 3s) were awesome, they really got the team going. I think that team could've/should've at least gotten to the WCF (TY FING REFEREE BULLS**T, F*** U CUBAN, F*** U MAVS). Anywho I really thought that Rockets team could possibly shutdown the Suns (I thought though if there was a team to worry about that year, those Suns were them) and probably take the Spurs to 7, if not win the series. Finals would've been tough after we wouldve have had to go through Dallas, Suns, Spurs, but the Pistons were another fairly favorable matchup for us.
Many won't like it, but if Mac was healthy this year's would be the team without question. I still went with it because aside from T-Mac, this year's team is all around better. The only real negative is Yao. Last year before he went out, we were talking about him playing at an MVP level. This year it seems like he's regressed.
Nope.. Just talk about the recent ones. Hmm, I think it's because of injuries that we are even where we are.. If it wasn't for the West injuries to key players, we wouldn't be up there... and we don't count.. We are always injured.
I think that 04-05 team was better. Tmac was still in his prime, Yao was still developing into a good center. Had it not been that choke job in game 7, we might have gone all the way to the WCF that year easily. Also, I want to say the 06-07 team as well. That was our series we blew to the Jazz. And I know for a fact we could have made it to the WCF that year because Golden State knocked out the Mavs. The Spurs in the WCF would have been an ideal matchup, and I think we could have had a great shot at beating them. Rockets/Cavs finals, which I am sure we would have won as well. But as far as the best team, on paper I will say this years. But who knows. The Rockets lately have been a team is could have, and not a team of did's.
