Which team did you like better, which was better, which did you enjoy more?

Do you think maybe the 94-95 team was better than there record showed because of injuries and all?

I like the 94-95 team better. That team overcame all odds to defeat one of the younger and more talented teams in the league in Orlando, a team that included a young Penny and Shaq. Not to mention the Jazz, Suns, and Spurs. Not too shabby.

I loved the 94-95 rocket team. I got so sick of hearing it was a fluke and this team just shut them all up. Plus they were so clutch this title run, I was not nearly as nervous when the spurs series rolled around because dream had made the statement about this team being a team of destiny. I knew then that they were going to win it all.

No comparison, 94-95 was better, especially with that ugly Knicks series and the OJ game. And to see Dream use DRob in 95 is something I'll never forget. Finally, add the Clyde story to the mix, and beating all those 60 win teams on the road.

I liked the regular season of the 93-94 campaign more, the magic of the 94-95 playoffs better.

The 93/94 playoffs weren't bad. The "Choke City" series, the timekeeper screwing us in Utah, and the Knicks/OJ series was all pretty good.

I like the 94 95 team better because of Drexler. That team was cool. However, nothing will ever match the feeling of beating the knicks (and their brutal play) in game 7 to win that first title. After all the frustration of watching houston teams fall apart it was the greatest feeling to see one of the teams actually come through in desperate times. Especially when they had their backs up against the wall in Pheonix and then again against New York. It was clutch. That's how you want to win. But year 2 had more of the same. Pheonix had us paralyzed and Utah had on the edge of the cliff. It was storybook stuff.

Absolutely 94-95. They beat the teams with the top four regular season records en route to becoming the lowest seed in the HISTORY of the NBA to EVER win a championship. Game one of those finals was an utter classic- Nick Anderson missing 4 free throws in a row to give Kenny Smith an opportunity to beat the buzzer with a game-tying 3 pointer; only to be followed up with Hakeem's tip in of the Drexler missed layup at the buzzer in overtime. MAN! Those were the days!!!!

    I love Nikos threads.

Obviously, '94-'95 has got a lot of appeal and I think I like it just as much as everyone here. But, I have a certain special appreciation as well for the brutality of the '93-'94 playoffs, especially against the Knicks. A lot of people say that series was ugly (I think they think it's ugly because the Knicks lost it), but I liked the toe-to-toe aspect of it. Plus, the Knicks had the makings of a better arch-villain. Orlando looked tough the next year, but they turned out to be a paper tiger. The Knicks genuinely were tough and battle-tested and proven. They wouldn't have crumbled just because a free thrower shooter choked (twice).

The nice thing about the 2 championships is that they lend credibility to one another. The second run was so convincing that the 'fluke' accusation of the first one was dispelled. At the same time, sitting by itself, that second run may have looked like a fluke (what with the paper tiger and all) itself. People would have said we just hit a hot-streak at the right time and other teams choked. But, we had the previous season in which we slugged our way through to show that wasn't true.

    I agree with DCkid.
The 94-95 team was probably a little more talented, but I will never forget the amount of joy the 93-94 team brought me.
    GO ROCKETS!!

The first squad was a much better TEAM. They were so well oiled, you just couldn't stop them. Everything was in rhythm.

In '95, it's like everything was hit and miss. Sometimes they just completely fell apart. (much of the regular season) But it's like they finally got on the same page and peaked all at the same time. It's almost more luck than anything else.

9 times out of 10, I think the 94 team beats the 95 team. They just had it together. But if the 10th time is the playoffs, the 95 team wins in a rout.

    ;)

oh yeah, I think the 94 team is better, but the 95 team was insanely fun to watch...

The '94-95 team was my favorite one because it was just simply incredible to see them beat a 60 win team in the Jazz, a 58 or 59 win team in the Suns, a 60+ win team in the Spurs, and the team with the best record in the East, the 57 win Magic team. Now, I don't know this for a fact, but I think that you would be hard-pressed to find a team that beat the top 4 teams, record-wise, in the NBA playoffs ever. Period.

The Rockets were on the ropes so many times...down 2-1 to the Jazzholes, 3-1 to the Suns, then tied at 2 apiece heading back to San Antonio. Look at how many road games, the Rockets won in that playoff season - 2 at Utah, 2 at Phoenix, 3 at San Antonio, and 2 at Orlando for a total of 9 road wins. Has any other team done this before or since?? I highly doubt it.

Plus you had such great drama like the incredible Game 2 in Utah where the Rockets went crazy and scored like 140 points (which sadly we don't even come close to scoring like half of that total now when we play the Jazzholes in the Delta Center), the thrilling 4th quarter comeback in Game 5 against Utah in Utah, Drexler playing with the flu in Game 5 against Phoenix - a game that we won in Overtime, the kiss of death shot by Super Mario, Olajuwon completely outplaying Mr. "Soft MVP" Robinson, and the Nick Anderson fiasco of Game 1 of the Finals (I don't think that he has ever been the same player since). WHEW!!

Don't get me wrong...the '93-94 season was great too, but that '94-95 season will always be one to remember. Too bad that team is considered by some people to be a fluke because Jordan didn't play a full season:rolleyes: ....mainly by people outside of Houston and fans of other teams, who for whatever reason, thought that it made them feel better to diss than to give props.

I'm with you on this one. The regular season in 94-95 was HORRIBLE until the trade (with the exception of the first 10 games or so). It was a really frustrating season. When that Clyde trade went down, I was sitting in the parking lot of Kroger on West Gray and I knew it was special.

With Jordan playing I think the Rockets won 8 of 10 games, and never lost at the United Center. I could be wrong, but it sure would have been nice to see Hakeem going against the three headed turtle, not to mention a Clyde-Jordan II. Either way I still think the Rockets win both championships...

like haven said, regular season 93-94 was better but the playoffs count for more so that and hakeem's domination of robinson made 94-95 better.

isn't it nice to have two champioship seasons to pick from.

While I agree that the second run was more dramatic, the first was more special because it was the first time Houston fans ever tasted victory. No championship after that will ever compare to the thrill and excitement that I got from the first championship. And that's in large part due to the fact that I had never experienced that before. The second one just didn't give me that same feeling because I had already been through a similar thing the year before.

You never forget your first time. :)
