I didn't finish reading the thread title before I voted (other). I thought you meant which former rockets player will replace Patrick as an assistant coach, according to a rumor that a former Rockets player will become an assistant coach next season. No offense man, I really find this kind of day-dreaming pointless. It's not like we are playing fantasy NBA (without time limitation, like Bill Russel in his prime can play along Yao if you want).
I know right? Even if we desperately needed a PG, I'd still pick-up Hakeem and run my grandmother at the point and teach how to throw an entry-pass
its hard not to say hakeem. but he isnt what this team needs. he has a lot or pride and would not become a 3rd scorer. i also like malone because of the rebounding. my choice was sampson because we would have 7'5 and 7'4 in the front court. both can shoot, rebound and block. sampson is also quick enough to guard PF's.
OT. We don't need another super-star. Just a role player. Preferably one who could palm the ball with just his middle and ring fingers.
Moses. In today's NBA, he would probably average 20 rebounds a game. He could also mentor Yao, like he did Hakeem...or Akeem back then.
Maybe Malone will be the ex-Rocket to come coach? I should have just left Hakeem off the poll because he is the obvious choice OR I could have articulated the proposition better: which skill set that these guys bring would best fit our needs now. Of course, Hakeem could just do it all so that restriction wouldn't help much.
Moses would be a sitting duck for all those 4's that can play the perimeter, shoot, and drive to the basket. Moses is a post player........period. The PF in today's game has to be a good combination of post and perimeter play. There are too many PFs in the league with good perimeter games. Hayes would even have some trouble with the perimeter 4s but he had a lot more mobility than Moses.
