Who is your choice for the poster who spends the most energy to make "special" posts and what do you think is his/her motivation to do that? Is it search for recognition, natural strife for excellence, too much time on her/his hands...?

Do you like it when posters really try to make great posts or do you sometimes find it a little bit "too much"?

    Just curious.

MacBeth -- his posts are so long I can't read all of them, usually...particularly his thread-starter posts. but he's very well reasoned. given his educational background, he tends to bring a lot to a discussion.

I miss Grizzled, a fellow Canadian of MacBeth. He was a great poster, too.

    Both great choices MadMax.

I'd like to add HayesStreet, the anti-MacBeth. I think they're by far two of the most intelligent posters on this BBS.

I'd have to go with MacB too.
It's like a foset he opens and closes whenever he wants(or something like that).
Another thing with Jag(aka MacBeth) is that he actually respects other posters!

Must agree with MacBeth. Though he once said he just kind of rattles off those long-assed posts. He must be a closet genius or deeply disturbed because they're always well written, entertaining and well thought out (although occasionally misguided :)).

Also props to MadMax. His partners must think he's diligently racking up the chargeable hours, when he's really on BBS duty. If only they knew...

Might as well just call it the MacBeth thread cuz the honor would clearly go to him...For the sake of sayin someone else different though, I'm trying to come up with another poster worth mentioning.....

Oh I got it, every poster who starts a trade accepted thread which will never happen! They give a whole ton of "plausible" reasons why the trade would be done and they're all well-thought out of course.;)

    yeah...believe me, they tried! :)

my partner used to work for a big firm here in houston...he had a guy he worked with who used to bill as soon as he woke up...he'd get in the shower and start billing, saying he was thinking about the case. i find that quite objectionable. if i don't feel like i'm adding value, i don't bill it. you can do quite well in this business, particularly with some of the bigger institutional-type clients we have, by just being honest...earns more in the long-run.

I might get flamed for this but...

    Trader_Jorge.

He puts it all out there even when he's severely outnumbered...which is most (if not all) of the time. Got to respect that.

I wouldn't vote for MacBeth. I suppose he can vouch for how much work he actually puts in, but I'd sooner give credit to the people who actually read all his posts. :) Writing well isn't hard for someone with the education to do it. I doubt he could write more poorly if he tried. As for the length: it is a lot of typing but I never get the impression that he really tries hard to discover all the angles; just that all these ideas occur to him at once and he puts it down on paper. So, why the volume is large, I think if we're talking about work, he doesn't put a lot into it (that is, if we're not counting all the years he spent on his education).

As an alternate candidate, I would say windandsea, even though she hasn't maintained the level of work she had once produced. But, do you remember all the translations? That was work. I was always impressed with the dedication to bringing us that info.

How about Dr. of Dunk. He's going to the summer league games, taking digital picutres, then writing up an analysis. That's a lot of work right there!
