aaron brooks is great, he's effective and a deadly scorer, the reason I chose PG is just to get a more defensive PG really, in the playoffs that matters most, his scoring can be use off the bench like tony parker's is now or manu was before as a deadly weapon off the bench, but with our wings and pf and center with yao looking pretty well, we need a defensive pg who can shoot primarily more than anything, those two skills are crucial to the missing piece to make a us a championship unit

a consistent all-star center would definitely be the best upgrade we could make.

In other words, what the weakest link on the starting five? That would be center, because our franchise player keeps breaking down.

Center position is the obvious choice.

Add playmaking to the starting line up.

SF: Danny Granger or Tayshaun Prince

a center, we dont know how Yao will play.
if the rockets trade battier or ariza, the rockets will need another SF.

Adding Chris Paul to this team over Brooks wouldnt make us that much better. It might even make us worse.

Wade over Martin would be a pretty signifigant upgrade and would make us better.

Replacing Battier/Ariza with a Wallace/Iggy type would make us somewhat better not extremely better. An offense minded player like Gay/Maggette makes us worse.

Bosh/Amare over Scola would be a fairly signifigant upgrade. A guy like Boozer or Lee not so much.

Howard over Yao would change the team drastically. Not sure about anyone else really.

With Brooks and Martin as fixtures, the SF spot needs to be our number 1 priority imo... Carmelo for 2011!!!

Assuming Yao comes back (yeah I know, knock on wood):

PF: Scola for Bosh. We lose a good player to gain a great one. That's what it takes though, to push a perennial playoff team into championship contention.

    Play making small forward.

Let's hope Denver gets knocked out of the first round this year and next!

C- either a healthy Yao, or another shotblocking threat.

The rub of it is the Rox players are all good, worthy rotationers anywhere and some are upper tier. A healthy Yao leads that parade. So, who is replaced with the stud to put this team over the top? That is the 67mm$ question (or whatever lux cap is in '10-'11).

This team does need: Healthy Yao, experienced shot blocking C (JO'N, Ratliff et al), quick development of Hill and Bud. And to win a Top 3 draw in the Lotto (while Knicks flounder and flounder for two more years...if only  ).

Give Hayes his due, BUT, come on, teams have had lay drills during games at the Rockets expense. He has heart, his is tough, plays hard, and he is just too short. I am one who thinks that Yao is either "done" or "near done." I think it is reasonable to expect that he might retire before next season. If not, I think he represents another TMac situation where he struggles, is in and out, and ultimately, out. The chances that he comes back, returns to All Star form and plays three to five years at a high level are nil and none. The Rockets are behind the curve in bringing in a serious replacement.

A 3 who can act like a point guard and be the distributor would be great since our point guard isn't a distributor

I don't have problems trading Yao for another veteran center. I think Yao is too expensive to keep. I want to keep last year's roster.

I don't get the point of ths poll, as some of you had said. all of our positions can get an upgrade. It is depend on the gap of that person on rockets roster vs what we could get out there.

    example:

AB vs CP3 - is it an upgrade yes. is it a huge upgrade? hell yea!
KM vs Wade - is it a huge upgrade? nope. is it an upgrade yes.
Ariza/battier vs lebron - this is the biggest upgrade folks.
Scola vs Bosh - not a huge upgrade, just like KM vs wade, but it does give us flexibility at the backup 5

Yao vs howard - if healthy no, they are a wash. people jumping on this ship because of yao's health. This isn't a question of upgrade but rather a question of replacement. Beside Howard is not a FA this summer, so this one is void.

The biggest upgrade would be getting Lebron, which is like zero percent of happening.
