Best player available that doesn't need a 24 hour psychiatrist.

Artest is the one who 'can' improve us the most.

Artest could probably sink us better than anyone on that list too.

Artest would improve us the most, but he is also the biggest gamble.

If we were able to chose, I would go with Joe Johnson. He is young and can be Pippen to Tmac's Jordon. Tmac and Johnson as our wing players would be awesome!

Easily Joe Johnson. A very good defender, great shooter, still only 24 years old, and has a good head on his shoulders.

I would be excited, if we could sign Johnson next year.

I don't see Artest coming here, but would love to get SAR.

    Artest - self-destructive insanity == trophy(s).

No other player has that. He's a game breaker.

Probably Artest, but I don't see him becomming a Rocket, so I voted for Donyell Marshall.

If we could put Artest in a cage and only let him loose to play basketball..... na I'm voting for Joe Johnson.

Its a close call between Johnson and Artest...but I had to go with Artest. He is easily the best perimeter defender in the game, but he can score as well. Johnson is better offensively than Artest, but his defensive game is nowhere near Ron's. But, he is also younger and less of a risk.

In any case, Artest "can" improve our team more than Johnson.

Joe Johnson would not make us better because we would have to trade Yao + expiring contracts or Tmac to get him. We would have a net worse team. We don't have the parts to trade for Artest either.

I picked SAR because I think Tmac+Yao+SAR > Tmac OR Yao + Johnson OR Artest.

First off, the question just asks which player will make us better...its just a simple question based on which player's abilities will give us a better team.

Secondly, Joe Johnson will not require TMac or Yao in a trade. Thats so absurd. Thats like us sending Spoon to the Pacers for J. Oneal.

How does Artest improve us the most? He is exclusively a 2 or 3. Tracy McGrady plays over 40 minutes a game. We didn't need a perimeter defender against the Mavericks. We needed a legitimate defending power forward to go one on one against Dirk. Unfortunately we had to double team him, which left Jason Terry open. If Dirk was being guarded by one of ours, don't think for a second Terry would have made those at such an unconscious level. The hands down best player, and fit, that would improve the Rockets the most is Donyell Marshall.

There aren't very many 'true' power forward that can guard Dirk. That's why guys like David Robinson and Patrick Ewing couldn't do much vs. Hakeem. He would just blow right by them. Guys like Shawn Marion can guard Dirk because he is of the more quicker small forward build. Artest is basically the same but a little shorter and stronger. I'd much more prefer Artest guarding a Dirk Nowitzki than I would Juwan Howard.

I voted for Artest, but I am suprised that more people didn't vote for SAR or Stromile, seeing as everyone on this board seems to be obsessed with getting one of these two players.
