Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Tracy Mcgrady, or Steve Francis?
I would take Mcgrady, Carter, or Duncan, but probably Duncan, because of the lack of dominant 7 foot big men. Mcgrady is only 21, and already a superstar, and Carter is the biggest star in the Association. Both have HUGE upside. As does Kobe, but I hate Kobe more than anything in this universe. I can't wait until the Spurs beat the Lakers, and Kobe is sitting on the bench with a towel over his head and his face in disbelief. Garnett has a great all around game, but he doesn't seem to want to take over a game, and although I love Stevie, he isn't in the same class as those guys right now......but give him 2 years.

Duncan, no question. He's already the best player in the league, who wouldn't take him?

    Yeah, Duncan for sure.

    He already has a ring.

Tim Duncan. A big man that can dominate in the post. That's a rarity nowadays. Having said that, I really really love Tracy McGrady's play. The guy does it all. He would probably be 2nd on my list.

    Garnett.

When starting a team, you have to look for verstility, therefore I take KG, McGrady, and then Duncan.

Why do I want versaltility when Rockets could win 2 rings by inside-out?

    Duncan.

I would take Duncan because he's the best big man in the game.

The spurs went from horrible to a championship within 2 years with Tim Duncan.

I would definitely take Tim Duncan. It's much easier to build around a 7 footer.

Sort of. They also got David Robinson back around that time. He sat out a year.

True, but a team doesn't make that big of an improvement unless Duncan is the real deal.

Duncan. Real good big men are hard to come by, especially centers. Duncan can play 4 or 5. KG is versatile, but he can only spot the 5 for a few minutes.

I'm sure lots of people would want to come play with a good big man and Crisco as the GM.

I'm happy with the player we're building around.

Plus, I'd like to see how Duncan would do without Robinson to help him out. He'd do well, but wouldn't have a ring to show for it.

Here's a few questions that come to mind.

How do you think the Spurs would have faired with Elton Brand instead of Duncan?

How do you think the Bulls would fair now if they had Duncan instead of Brand?

Do you guys think Tim Duncan could turn the Bulls around like he turned the Spurs around?

    Good questions.

    1. I think the Spurs would have good with Brand, but not necessarily championship material. Why? Duncan + Robinson = dominant defense.

    2. Bulls would be better, imo. Fizer would be at his natural position, and the guards would get more shots while defenses try to stop the 7 footer.

    3. Depends. Krause has such a bad rep... but maybe Duncan could still provide enough incentive for good FAs to come and play with him(like Tmac or Hill). If he could convince those players, yeah the bulls would be turned around.

See I think Duncan is better than Brand, but not that much better.

I see all of the Duncan love and championship this and championship that, but I think he benefits a lot thanks to the team that drafted him. Throw Duncan on the Bulls and I don't think many people on here would say "Yeah, he's the best player under the age of 25 in the league"

I think Kevin Garnett would win a championship if he was on the Spurs too.

I think KG would have won a ring on SA too because he would bring just as much dominating d to the table as Duncan would. Brand I'm not so sure about, but SA would still be damn good.

McGrady is on the magic and people are still saying he is good [IMG]

Garnett is not clutch like Duncan, it never would've happened. Garnett is not a player that you know without a doubt is going to deliver in the clutch when you have to have a bucket -- Duncan is. Garnett is way overrated.

This year, the Spurs were just way too good for Garnett and the Wolves, but last year Garnett got beat by the Sonics who weren't all that good. If Garnett was really that good, he would have single handedly led his team to victory over a mediocre Sonics team. You can point out that he has a weak supporting cast, but that's really a weak argument. Until he gets past the first round, there's no really no point in arguing whose better between Duncan and Garnett.

I don't think Garnett's better than Duncan, but I think if Duncan was stuck on the Bulls we wouldn't be hearing how he's one of the best 7 footers in the game. I think he'd be in the same shoes as Elton Brand, great player, but needing help. I was at the last Rockets-Spurs game and Duncan wasn't that impressive, his free throws leave a lot to be desired too.

If I had to choose a player to build a team with, I'd take McGrady just because of his overall game. He can bring it on both sides of the ball and he can hit the clutch shot too.

I'd take Duncan second just because he's the only dominant low post player in that list. I just don't want people to say "Hey he won a championship, isn't it obvious he's the best?" because if he was on any other lottery team, he still wouldn't have a championship.
