If we want a team that's an actual World Champion, not counting the olympics, we need the MLS to help build our national soccer program. Let the WNBA players go overseas where they'll get payed waaaay better and have more interested fans.
This poll needs a "Both" option. Oski, why wouldn't going overseas help out our soccer players as well?
Overseas play helps the players alot, but we need the MLS to build interest in the sport overall here in the States so that more people support the National team and more young athletic kids will give the sport a chance, giving us a larger pool of players to build from.
actually soccer is kinda fun to watch, it is the most pop[ular sport in my country, and over the world, the usa didn't do it bad last world championships (we didn't qualify and al the dutch people think we are the best in the world , wich we are _
do away with both...just keep the WUSA. The female soccer players are way more pleasant to look at than the wnba players. And the MLS...who wants to see scrubby player? the english premiere league and italian serie a etc. are like division 1. MLS isn't even division 2...it's like division 200 or something. The MLS players have NO skills whatsoever.
I don't have the patience to fully appreciate soccer. I hear those guys on the Spanish station, and they just don't stop talking. I can't help but wonder, "What the F*** could they possibly be talking about?" They must have reams of player stats and personal info like baseball announcers do...
No more WNBA. I hate it that the NBA forces this stuff to be on NBC. Has anyone told David Stern that he doesn't have to abide by title 9? MLS I don't like but I can handle. The league exists on it's own, and there are alot of people who like it.
This makes no sense to me. Why would you want either of them to vanish? People are getting paid to play a sport they love and some people actually enjoy watching them do it. Even if you are not among those who enjoy it, what difference does it make to you that they exist?
I have not voted thus I have not seen the reults, but IMHO I think this is a landslide to the tune of 3 to 1 in favor of the WNBA.
The same can be said about women's basketball. BTW, a lot of those who say soccer is to slow are the same people who like baseball. And yeah, soccer is one of the few team sports where Americans can't sustain the arrogance of claiming to be the "world champion" when in fact it's just a league champion.
